Johnny Depp Says U.S. Is Like a 'Dumb Puppy' By REUTERS

Filed at 7:48 a.m. ET

BERLIN (Reuters) - Hollywood star Johnny Depp said on Wednesday the United States was a stupid, aggressive puppy and he would not live there until the political climate changed.

The 40-year-old actor, who stars in the ``Pirates of the Caribbean,'' told the German news magazine Stern he was happier staying in the south of France with his wife, the French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis, and their two children.

``America is dumb, it's like a dumb puppy that has big teeth that can bite and hurt you, aggressive,'' he said.

``My daughter is four, my boy is one. I'd like them to see America as a toy, a broken toy. Investigate it a little, check it out, get this feeling and then get out,'' said the star of the off-beat films ``Edward Scissorhands'' and ``Dead Man.''

Depp slammed George W. Bush's administration for its criticism of French opposition to the U.S.-led war in Iraq.

``I was ecstatic they re-named 'French Fries' as 'Freedom Fries'. Grown men and women in positions of power in the U.S. government showing themselves as idiots,'' he told Stern.

How erudite. What a command of the language, reasoning, intellect.

This statement is akin to "You Big Stinky," or "Nanah unh," or even "You suck."

Yes, everyone has an opinion and some of them are just dumber than others. We respect that.

France shoulders shame of heat deaths (USA Today)

Just the thought that thousands of frail, elderly people died because temperatures that topped 100 degrees turned their apartments and nursing home rooms into suffocating death chambers — while much of the nation's younger population enjoyed their annual vacations — has sparked a national mea culpa.

Check out Depp's bio. He dropped out of high school.

It kills me that high school dropouts (Depp, Streisand) can pretend to have such wisdom. They malign a man (George Bush) who holds a BA from Yale and and MBA from Harvard.

Excuse me Deppy, but I think you're the dumb puppy. Do the world a favor and shut your idiot mouth. Better yet, stay in France and make low-grossing French art films.

"The Germans succeeded in invading and occupying France in June 1940 and established a French fascist puppet government that would do as Germany wished. Until the German invasion of Russia in June 1941, Great Britain was the only country fighting Germany after the fall of France in June 1940."

Depp might think the U.S. is a dumb puppy, but if somebody ever gets designs on invading France again, France will be a puppy that rolls over and plays dead as they did in 1940.

The 40-year-old actor

Johnny, Johnny, Johnny. 40 already? Most of us begin to mature by this age. Most of us have to work for a living, not drift through a "dream world" existence. France will fit in quite nicely with your dream world. Hope you become an adult sometime while you're still breathing.

Depp hung around Thompson too long. Depp used to be a real talent. His work in "Benny & Joon" was wonderful. Gilbert Grape was a winner too. Why he ever got mixed up with the likes of Thompson I have NFI.

At least he did move. That's cool.

Let's see what Depp has to say of Froggyville in twenty years? The newness of anything can be exciting. Let him have his honeymoon. Waking up next to France each day might take it's toll after a while.

Depp better make an appointment with a doctor to see if he has amnesia. Or maybe he'd better check what he's been putting in his cigarettes.

According to the following quote, from 2001...He already left America, to make a home in France, in 1999.

Two years ago, you left the States to live in Paris. Do you feel at home overseas?

Paris is the only place I've ever been able to say I feel at home. I never really understood why I was so drawn to France, and then I went over there to do a movie called The Ninth Gate, met my girl [actress Vanessa Paradis] and never left. France gives me the opportunity to live a simple life. I can go to a tiny cafe not far from my house and just sit there, sipping coffee and smoking cigarettes.

There's that Deppish reference to smoking cigarettes again. It isn't George Bush who is banning smoking.

Question: is it Vanessa or the addiction to cigarettes that is drawing him to France?

That Johnny Depp would willingly move into a higher tax nation shows he has lost his capacity for any reasoned thought. He is unfit to serve in the capacity of actor. But that being said, he was pretty good in the pirate movie.

Another slow news day. He's been living over there and bad mouthing America for quite a while and only came back for the pirate movie (which I didn't waste my $ on). I suspect the move had more to do with his drug record here than any higher thought processes of world affairs.
