The harder the Dems push for a non-pricipled (immoral) judge to sit on the court, one that believes babies should be killed at will and that homosexuals should be "glorified", the more people with guts and morals will come to the fore and "vote" their conscience.

Fact of the matter is that the Republicans are currently in control of all branches of the US federal government, the legislature, the executive and the judiciary, however, the amount of conservatism that has passed is close to nil.

Spending continues to go through the roof and government is creeping into every corner of our lives. So far, Bush hasn't vetoed a single spending bill. He also is in favor of prescription drug coverage for seniors, the richest segment of the US population (the GIMME segment). There is NO WAY that Generation X and Y (people born 1962ish-1977ish and 1978ish-1995ish) will be able to pay the costs of health coverage for the baby boomer (aka spoiled brats) generation without HEFTY tax increases in the future. Toss their Social Security in there and Gen X/Y will be lucky to make it home with 30-40% of their income in 10 years.

"Conservative" Republicans can blame it on RINOs in the Senate or Sandra Day O'Conner all they want, but that excuse is wearing thin. More than likely, George Bush will be re-elected, Republicans will maintain control of the House and gain a couple of seats in the Senate (Georgia for one). When that happens, they have TWO years to start implementing some truly conservative ideals and maybe even the FAIRTAX, and if they don't, my vote goes to 3rd party candidates from here on out...many others in my social arena (young, affluent conservatives) feel the same way. We absolutely despise liberals, yet more and more, we feel abandoned by the Republicans.

I meant "common ground" with respect to substantive issues. I don't really care about the label (neo, paleo, etc.). I'm pretty sure Bill Kristol and Bill Bennet vote GOP, yet they are quite different people.

There is a good deal of bashing on this forum ('tis the nature of internet, I think) that lacks substance and value.

I tend to vote GOP (even for the likes of Collins and Snowe), but I also tend to be harshly critical. It is reasonable for me to expect cogent explanations from elected officials.

I said it before and I'll say it again, the Orrin Hatch-GOP tactic of accusing the Dems of racial discrimination was assenine and worthless from the start. It was a ridiculous approach, and this proves it. No one thinks the Dems discriminate against Hispanics. They discriminate against pro-lifers and conservatives, whether they are Catholic or not. Period. Dumb dumb dumb. I appreciate Hatch's zeal, but the approach was moronic.

One point though: be polite, identify yourself, and REMAIN CALM...the 'rats are the ones who scream and flagellate themselves and act like AlFrankens. Make your point firmly but without shouting.
