CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) -- Venezuela declared war on Friday against what it called an unfair world trade system and urged developing nations not to subscribe to any new agreements at upcoming global trade talks next week.
The world's No. 5 oil exporter made clear it would take an aggressive stance at September 10-14 World Trade Organization negotiations in Cancun, Mexico, which aim to lower barriers to world trade. Venezuela's chief trade negotiator Victor Alvarez said the world's poorest countries had only a tiny share of world exports, which were hogged by rich nations: "It's clear who are the winners and losers of today's world trade system."

Hopefully they will kill the WTO in the process of poking the US in the eye.

Their complaint is that the WTO gives too much benefit to the US.

Their complaint is that the WTO gives too much benefit to the US.I'm sure the French won't pass up the opportunity to make a big show of standing with the "oppressed" Third World and attack the US as well.

While at the same time, France continues to subsidize its various exports on a large scale. To dump cheap products on other nations as always.

Let's see...Venezuala doesn't like how the WTO favors large global corporations and US workers don't like how WTO lowers everyone's standard of living. Maybe something everyone except the big banks and the big corporations doesn't like is a bad idea.
It's amazing how many times that the leaders the US chooses to depose are, besides all of their faults, ardent nationalists whose countries would be ripe for US investment if it weren't for them.
It's like anything else. The closer governance and control are to home, the more say the people being governed have. Global reaches right be great for corporations making profits, but they're awful for those trying to make a living or develop their own economies.

Thanks for the ping and the post.
Chavez has plans for Venezuela and Latin America. He's Castro's little darling.
