The point, however, is that it would NEVER have been a white guy saying that while a black guy's head is stuck through a wall. NEVER. (And there's also the further underlying message that whites cannot play basketball...)

But one always feels as though the motives are implacable, and always inexorable with Shakespeare. On 24 they often seem haphazard or random.

It is interesting that almost all military dramas have to end in a court room. Military action is almost always a crime!

This ain't really new though; when I got home from Vietnam TV had 3-4 programs a week where "crazed vets" went psycho and went on a killing spree. I remember the TV series Manix had 1/2 the episodes on psycho vets and my family really expected me to go haywire.

My point here is that hollywierd does have power to shape opinion just ask and Vietnam vet!!

We watch Animal Planet -- Animal Cops -- in Detroit -- where most violators of animal laws are black but so are the judges. I wonder if this program while interesting will last showing real blacks acting poorly and un-PC.

I have heard that Cops is scrubbed for portrayal of "minorities" so Animal Cops Detroit will have to have more "white" violators??

Count also how frequently the whites in NYC (New York!!!!) are protrayed as racist and antigay.

Also count how many times the evildoer is a businessman. White of course. Compare with NYPD Blue which has a more balanced (realistic) representation of criminals race.

My list of propaganda TV programs from the 70's:

Cannon, Quincy, Barnaby Jones, McGiver, and number 1 on the list is Magnum PI where Tom Selleck regularly had flashbacks and had to find rouge Vietnam vets going to war against the US government.

Perhaps, my memory isn't that good. But what I do recall of 5-0, is that the whole show, including the heavies, had a comic strip character.

24 last year at the end started wearing thin on me. I sent Fox an email that if they kept heading in that direction, they would be worse than West Wing with 24. I asked them for one documentation where American Military people even on a small scale did what they supposedly did in last season's 24. They never got back to me.

They couldn't answer you. The story line was an updated rip-off of the 1964 movie, Seven Days in May.

Four years ago, at a National Association of Scholars conference, Alan Kors said that if Martians learned about America through TV, they'd think all judges were black.
