Dull Paean: Showtime's "DC 9/11" is a Shameless Bush Booster

I hope you all got to see "DC 9-11" this evening... I thought it was rather compelling. Even though much of it was "known" and we've all seen the President's speeches a number of times, this was a very good reminder and recollection -- and, I suspect, a very fair account. Liberals like Tom Shales and the Village Voice may hate it, but George W. Bush was a true STATESMAN through all those travails, a real MAN. I just kept thinking throughout this retelling: I bet Clinton wishes he had an event like this in his sordid presidency to give it some meaning and to give him an opportunity to demonstrate his abilities, but I kept thinking: imagine Bubba and his band of baffoons trying to work their way through all the snakepits George W. and his able team had to confront. Thank the Lord we had GREAT leaders during that time of desperate need.

I thought it was a powerful portrayal -- I especially liked when they switched to the real W. at the end of his speech to the joint session of Congress -- there's the real LEADER! No actors or pretenders needed.

I am glad I watched the movie. It showed me just what a leader GW Bush really is. I already knew this, but not to the extent that the movie showed me. What makes W more of a leader are the people he surrounds himself with. He takes advantage of their brains, ideas, funneled down to his final decision. Clinton surrounded himself with a bunch of losers, which is what he is. George W. Bush is without a doubt one of the greatest leaders of the history of this country. He may very well be the greatest.

Even those predisposed to accept the movie's fanciful version of what happened will be hard-pressed to see it through to the end. Overlong at two hours-plus, the film bogs down repeatedly in meetings -- meetings of the Cabinet, meetings of the war cabinet, meetings at Camp David, meetings in the Oval Office, meetings, meetings everywhere. In his zeal to proselytize, Chetwynd forgot how to dramatize.

Well, I'm one of these "Predisposed to accept the movie's fanciful version", and all I could do was sit there and STARE at the TV, ENTHRAWED!

And...

"Two hours-plus"???

It was exactly two hours and FIVE FREAKING MINUTES long.

This guy's a pissant of the highest order.
