How To Look At The War On Terror
The Washington Times ^ | September 7, 2003 | David Horowitz

Edited on 07/12/2004 3:40:39 PM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

Imagine the date is Sept. 12, 2001. Ask yourself this question: Are you willing to bet that two years will pass and there will not be another terrorist attack on American soil?

I will wager that there is not one person reading this column who would have made that bet two years ago.

By taking the battle to the enemy camp, by making the terrorists the hunted instead of the hunters, Mr. Bush and the U.S. military have kept Americans safe.

Thank you, President Bush.

Even Mrs. edskid - not a politically savvy person, but a darned fine RN - recently came to the conclusion that the 'rats are willing to sacrifice anything to win the White House in 2004. That includes the economy, free and honest elections, and the lives of every U.S. serviceman/servicewoman. "They hate George Bush so much that they'll ruin everything to get him," she said.

I smiled in benevolent superiority and told her that only the names have changed since the '68 Democratic convention.

The US military in Iraq is like a giant purple bug zapper light, drawing the jihadists.

Better they go to Bagdad than Washington.

MEGA PING ALERT! No matter what you think about Horowitz, this article is excellent. It explains Clintons ignorance regarding terrorists during his presidency and Al Gores ignorance when speaking out against President Bush during the war.

PLEASE PING YOUR LISTS!!! Thanks. Vets

President Bush 9/7/03 "We have learned that terrorist attacks are not caused by the use of strength - they are invited by the perception of weakness..."

We used to know this. During the Clinton years we forgot it.

I am just surprised that after two years of rationalizing why 9/11 was not their fault at least in part (Clinton/Gore), this is all they can come up with.

Gore has to make theese speeches - or face reality - could you live with yourself?

Maybe. I don't hear anyone locally educating the uninformed. It's early, I know. Which mainstream media source in the megatopolis will care to report the truth about Patty bin Murray?

President Bush 9/7/03 "We have learned that terrorist attacks are not caused by the use of strength - they are invited by the perception of weakness..."

We used to know this. During the Clinton years we forgot it.

During the clintoon years, clintoon couldn't have cared less about defense ...

"A presidential executive order issued during the Clinton
administration hamstrung the FBI so badly that bureau
lawyers decided it would be illegal to infiltrate Osama bin
Laden's terrorist training camps in Afghanistan, a senior
FBI official during the Clinton administration said Saturday."
(June 1, 2002)

"I don't believe 9-11 happened because of an intelligence breach," Quayle told Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes."
"I think it was really a policy breach. It was the inaction of the previous administration, by and large, that al Qaeda -- and bin Laden in particular -- thought that they could hit the United States, and there would be a retaliation maybe of a cruise missile but nothing more than that," he explained.

The comments make the former vice president, who served under President Bush's father from 1989 to 1993, the highest ranking former U.S. official to suggest that the Clinton administration should get the lion's share of the blame for not preventing the 9-11 attacks.

How To Look At The War On Terror

Excerpt:

There is one reason — and one reason alone — that Americans have been safe for the almost two years since the September 11 attacks.

That reason is the aggressive war that President Bush and the U.S. military have waged against international terrorism and its "Axis of Evil." The war on terrorism has been fought in the streets of Kabul, Afghanistan, and Baghdad instead of Washington and New York. By taking the battle to the enemy camp, by making the terrorists the hunted instead of the hunters, Mr. Bush and the U.S. military have kept Americans safe.

< snip >

The president vowed to stay the course, but noted that it is only recently that the United States has done so. "During the last few decades, the terrorists grew bolder, believing if they hit America hard, America would retreat and back down."

Perhaps Mr. Bush had in mind al Qaeda's attack on the World Trade Center in 1993, when President Clinton and Al Gore backed down.

Perhaps he had in mind al Qaeda's attack on U.S. troops in Somalia, when President Clinton and Al Gore backed down.

Perhaps he had in mind the attack on the Khobar Towers, a dormitory housing U.S. soldiers, where President Clinton and Al Gore backed down.

Perhaps he had in mind the attack on the USS Cole, when President Clinton and Al Gore backed down.

"Five years ago," Mr. Bush continued, "one of the terrorists said that an attack could make America run in less than 24 hours. They're learning something different today. The terrorists have not seen America running; they've seen America marching. They've seen the armies of liberation marching into Kabul and to Baghdad."

And they know and respect the difference.

Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my General Interest ping list!. . .don't be shy.

It is a dark day for Americans when one of their two leading parties cannot be counted on to support the flag when it is committed in battle,

Beautiful article...this is a must read. Wraps up the whole perspective of weakness versus righteous anger and retribution.

I would hate for this one to be missed. It explained well what happened when we let terrorist get away with their agenda... the proliferation of "terror".

While it is frightening to have to confront them,.. we have to. There is no other choice. President Reagan understood this, and so did President Bush 41. Then we had the dark years..

Now we are left with the huge mess that this President, his administration and our brave men and women are cleaning up. (I would be remiss if I didn't mention the sacrifices of our brave allies too).

Thanks for bumping and pinging this article. I thought it was excellent too.

"Then just pound them with this article when they try to electronically lynch our president for doing his job to kill and contain the terrorists."

You realize, of course, that it won't penetrate their skulls.

The liberals don't want to kill or contain terrorists. That's not a priority for them. In their view, George W. Bush is a greater threat than Osama bin Laden (whom they would worship, were he a Democrat).

Thank you for the ping, Grampa Dave. This is a very good essay.

The way to think about the war on terrorism is to ask yourself who is supporting Mr. Bush and the U.S. military in this life and death engagement, and who is not?

Yep. The louder and nastier the personal attacks, the more certain the left's target's a good guy.

This week, I would rather celebrate the troops and mourn our lost than deal with these wankers on the left. We spend most of our energy on defense when WE have the winning team and gameplan.

Ronald Reagan, like Pres. Bush, would listen to the opposition politely, say essentially, "yes, and now this is the way we're going to do it."

Or, put simply - with apologies for the "H" word (DNC-EU-UN-Hollywood interchangeable w/ France):
