North-Bound Missile Trucks Seized

Authorities in Japan have caught a company there in the act of illegally exporting to North Korea via China large trailer trucks that can be used as mobile missile launchers, the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri reported over the weekend. The trucks were partially dismantled before being loaded onto the freighter, according to the report. The company attempting to export them specializes in selling second-hand cars. The trucks were dismantled and loaded in separate locations in an attempt to fool customs inspectors, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry said.

The ministry has pressed criminal charges against the company.

This is the first time the Japanese ministry has press charges for illegal export to North Korea by way of China.

The large trailer trucks themselves are not prohibited as export items, but are subject to a catch-all rule that applies to items which may ultimately be used to produce or deploy weapons of mass destruction.

Earlier this year, the accused company had submitted a claim to authorities to win permission to export the trailer trucks to the North, and was turned down, the Yomiuri report added.

I guess that it takes longer time to stabilize Iraq than was originally estimated. Iraqi occupation is costing a lot of money. N. Korea and Iran are both accelerating their nuclear program. Military contingency could come sooner than U.S. has expected.

N. Korea may try to go nuclear before the next presidential election because U.S. government is preoccupied with election politics. Any clear indication of that would force the U.S. military response.

I think it's more because we just don't have enough troops left for rotation and I don't think it would be good for morale to lreave those kids there for 4 - 10 years.

Hope so. And I hope they need troops bad then maybe someone will listen to me when I ask for a green card so I can enlist and go. There's lots of Canadians disgusted with the Liberal gov't and would be more then happy to enlist with the US and fight for it.

Japan really is putting the squeeze on. When I first saw the headlines I thought they had some kind of TEL system involved. Apparently, Japan is blocking anything that might even remotely be useful.

Even if it’s the wrong thing, or ineffective.
Better we should do our best to clear up the mess we’re in in Afghanistan and Iraq, take a break and regroup – then think it through and take care of N. Korea.
