I am so glad you posted this. I am getting so sick and tired of the history-ignorant who think the crusades were some kind of offensive action, as they were actually DEFENSIVE. People need to brush up on some history.

I think what rankles many of us though, is that these peaceful, law-abiding muslim folk are so incredibly slow to speak up and combat the way in which their own "good name" is being daily abused by the millions of nut-case muslims in the world. Non-muslims are regularly harrassed, tortured and murdered in other lands for their "disbelief." To my knowledge, no muslim organizations in America are particularly disturbed by this reality.

After the events of September 11th, we had school students here in Ohio -- guess which ones I'm talking about?(my brother is a teacher here and verified this information to me) running around high-fiving and doing things like that.

My sister-in-law was also teaching on September 11th, and did witness one student acting gleeful about the attacks, commenting that "we're going to war!". She would attribute this emotional outburst to ignorance, rather than any religious or political ideology that the student held. Not to mention that most children did not understand what war truly is. It isn't like they are being taught really well in school about the sacrifice of our soldiers!

They were indeed to defensive to a large degree. Of course, on at least one crusade they also stopped off in Germany (I beleive it was) to kill a few Jews, apparently just for fun. They also did some occasional looting and pillaging on the way to feed themselves, but, hey, them's the breaks.

I don't doubt there are a lot of peace-loving muslims. The problem is that the peace-loving ones are not being true to the core teachings of the Koran. They are backsliders who are disdained by the "radicals". It is actually a pretty simple formula. Follow Islam faithfully = Kill Christians and Jews.

Islam is an enemy to Christians. THEY view Christians as enemies, not the other way around. It is just good sense for Christians to recognize those that would do them harm if the opportunity arose.

We have been prevented from speaking the truth in so many arenas of public discourse by PC and now by hate crime legislation. If certain actions or certain people are a threat to our society, then at least we should be able to say so.
