I have not forgotten. And neither has those who love and defend the United States.
We will hunt down the perpetrators of terrorism wherever they can be found, and we will send them straight to Hell.
On May 31st, 2002, the Secretary of the Navy ordered the original Navy Jack flown over all ships and craft to remind all of the origins of the United States and its Navy, and our will to triumph over our foes.

Thanks for the links but what a terrible day.
On the positive side, I had forgotten just how ahead of the curve FReepers are at reporting and decoding the events as they unfold. These threads are amazing. Why anyone would ever pick up a copy of the NYT or turn on CNN is beyond me.
That's one of the reasons I love FR - I swear, I have read storieshere that don't make the media for 2 days. Some stories don't get covered at all.

I'll never forget that day and the awful feeling I had. I'll also never forget the way our president stood tall and handled himself well.I think we should all give thanks that clinton(much to blame),or algore(spineless),weren't in charge.

Thanks for the ping, my friend. Never forget.
Both towers had been hit by the time I left the house to go to work. I dropped my three children off at school, and could finally listen to the reports on the radio in relative peace, without my oldest son asking questions--yet. I heard a reporter out of DC who was commenting on the commercial plane was "circling the Pentegon"; the reporter wasn't sure whether or not this was simply a plane that was in trouble, or with a disoriented crew, or something....
And then, fearful yelling from the same man indicating that the plane had hit the Pentagon.
I remember calling my parents home in a near panic to check on the whereabouts of my father, he frequently travels to DC; almost always working out of the Pentagon along with the J.C.O.S.
He had been sleeping, and thus as of yet unaware of the attacks upon our soil.
