To clarify:
I do not care whether Saddam Hussein was directly responsible for the crashing of planes into WTC and the Pentagon, and a patch of ground in Pennsylvania. The base of Saddam's power in Iraq was the Sunni Muslims, intellectually closely tied to Wahhabism and Muslim militancy, and while there was little love between Saddam and the House of Saud, their objective was much the same - keep the influences of the West at bay, so the Islamic culture would not be contaminated.
Saddam simply repressed his countrymen, with a savagery exceeding that of Josef Stalin or Adolf Hitler, and approaching that of Pot Pol in Cambodia. Was Saddam Hussein one of the good guys? There was plenty of good rational and compelling reasons why Saddam should be taken out. One of these reasons was that Saddam was probably more vulnerable in March 2003, than he would be six months, or a year later. Another is that we have a base right next door to both Saudi Arabia and Iran, with a veiled threat to both these countries that if the horse feces does not stop, we have only a short air flight with very high-yield conventional weapons at our disposal, that could do enormous damage on limited areas.
Saddam was never our prime objective. He was merely our wedge to establish a firm base in the region.
And a definite plus, all the militant jihad warriors from everywhere in the world are drawn to the killing fields in the Sunni Triangle. If they are there, they are not making mischief somewhere else. And when they are all in one place, it is easier to deal with them.
Our kill ratio of Jihad to the coalition forces is still vastly favorable to our side.

right, that is why gas is a RECORD prices now, half a year after an invasion that supposedly captured the oil fields with minimal damages.
3000 of my countrymen died because of saudis, and the saudis continue to get rich and richer. But some day, we'll get even right? Sure we will, the day the consulting contracts are no more.

Good reason spelled "M""O""N""E""Y". The saudis are smart; the got so many in their pockets it is disgusting. The are safer in their palaces than we are in our cities.

the answer to that question is NO, absolutely not.

I agree that the current hostility of the jihadists attracts more jihadists to Iraq for us to kill more of them. However, I fail to imagine that the more jihadists we kill the better we are going to come to an end to the jihad movement. In Israel, we are observing the young kids who are blowing themselves up to harm the Israelis. Do you suppose that will ever end? The root cause MUST be addressed. I resemble this situation with an infestation of termites. You can kill a few termites as you see them, but unless you kill the queen, and eliminate the moist wood, you will NEVER end the problem. In our case we have hate, and religion that is teaching hate, their media is teaching hate. If that is allowed to continue, no matter how much killing we or the Israelis do, we will NEVER see the end of it.
Having said that, I must attempt to prescribe a method to kill the queen, and remove the moist wood.
1- Negotiate with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan; all are our allies to stop any venomous teaching in the mosques. All clerics are paid by the government; hence the government can force the issue with them. That can be done secretly, and gradually.
2- Introduce a UN resolution forbidding any religion from inciting violence or teaching killing in the name of God..
3- Request from the UN/World Bank, and other international organization to enforce the current laws that allows freedom of worship. If Saudi Arabia does not allow people to build Churches and Synagogues, THE WHOLE WORLD MUST BOYCUT THEM. No crap about holy sites should be allowed. They build mosques next door to our churches! If we allow that and do not DEMAND equal treatment from a small little country like Saudi Arabia, then we deserve to take it up the a$$.
