I, being a magician and member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians can not divulge how stuff is done, but I have no problem letting out a secret here or there when justified.

Ah, but there are plenty of websites that do tell how its done ;-)

I was fascinated by much of Blaine's tricks until I read how they were done. Although, there are many that haven't been revealed. Most come down to the participants being duped into not considering that he has accomplices(Im sure you know that). There are several that I am still curious about, like the one where he tells a guy to think of a loved one. then burns the guys shirt to reveal a drawing of the guys girlfriend or something.

A spectator asked me how something was done and I told him I would have to kill him if I told him. He asked if I could reveal just a little and just rough him up.

As to the workings of the IBM I can not tell you. Things happen!

There are plenty of websites dedicated to telling you how Blaine's stuff is done, as well as how a lot of magic is done.

Only a small number of Blaine's effects use an accomplice. Meaning someone unknown to the person the effect is being performed for. None of the effects are performed in conjunction with a "Stooge". Meaning the person the trick is being done to is "in on it."

Stooges are very rare and really not needed. When you see a magician pull out a spectator, they really are just a random spectator.

I'm performing at a private party this Saturday, pending hurricane damage to myself or the party throwers. I should try to come up with a hurricane effect.

I was really bummed when I learned how he did the trick where he has a person select a card, then put it back in the deck, and then proceeds to throw the deck against a glass window of a restaurant and the card "magically appears" stuck to the inside of the window. Some of the more "amazing" tricks have such simple explanations that people never expect them.

On another note, are you familiar with the comedian/magician The Amazing Jonathen? I've seen him on Comedy Central a time or too and love him. He is hilarious.

The Amazing Jonathen is one of my favorites. While his effects are simple, beginner magician stuff most of the time, his delivery, attitude, stage presence, and audience appeal are 2nd to none.

I love his Knife Thru Arm.

Agree about TAJ.

I love his Knife Thru Arm.

Yeh, that's a good one. I like the one he has ended shows with where he "randomly" selects an audience member who he will know things about that no one could - only for it to be his sister. Her performance of being "shocked" by his knowledge of personal details is quite good as well.

Ya, his sister gag is a good one.

At IBM Ring Meetings (meetings of local members) I will often borrow props, cards, or other equipment from someone in attendance and then start my routine by pointing out I borrowed these objects from X, so if anything goes wrong its X's fault. Gets a good laugh.

Just think, if David Blaine bulked up to Michael Moore size he could have gone without food for 44 years.
