When taxes are presented to voters in clear, unambiguous propositions, the voters do the right thing. First Alabama, now Washington. No one wants to take a pay cut 'for the children.'

Espresso tax? I hope you're joking....

Shocking Simply Shocking. Who ever even suggested this TAX should be lead to a tall tree with a rope and hung Texas style for even bring it up!
I wonder when the State Legislature will try to RAM it through against the wishes of the voters. Just wait BOHICA

Typical Seattle hypocrites.
They'll gladly help vote in people who will pick other people's pockets like Patty Murray and Jim McDermott, but when they finally get a chance to see what it feels like to have the money come out of their own pockets they get all bent out of shape.

Espresso Tax does not pass Tsk, tsk tsk. It's obvious that minorites were disenfranchised by this vote due to the fact that they dont know how to vote properly. The machines/punch cards are too antiquated for minorities. We'll just have to get a court to overturn this vote. It's the democratic way, dontcha know.

First They Came for the Espresso
First they came for the espresso
and I did not speak out
because I did not drink espresso.
Then they came for the café mocha latte
and I did not speak out
because I did not drink latte.
Then they came for the chai tea
and I did not speak out
because I did not drink tea.
Then they came for my frappucino
and there was no one left
to speak out for me. :-)

No joke- a dime tax on every $2.50 cup of the expensive stuff...And in Starbucks home territory! Gutsy move for some politicion, eh?
To: BlessingInDisguise
Yeah. The Private day care centers did not want to raise their prices.
So some twit had the idea that if they could tax fancy coffee (the beverage of choice for the SCREAMING libs in Seattle)
And if they did it "foor da chilren" the bleeding hearts would go for it.
Ha ! The liberals didn't want their ox goard.
Hell, I was kinda hoping they were too stupid to relize what was going on and vote for it.

Oh Contraire! (sp?) It seems that a bunch of moronic, misinformed Oklahomans just LOVE to give thier money away "for the children" (If they had bothered to educate themselves on the subject, they would never have voted for it...but of course the sheeple just beleived the news and the commercials.) Our Mayor just lowered himself and used the "for our children" line to pass a multi billion dollar project...making our tax rate appx
9%!!! 10% in some areas! If it's not a tornado it's a greedy politician...that's Oklahoma for you.

I wonder when the State Legislature will try to RAM it through against the wishes of the voters. Just watch and see.
Remember when the state legislature called an "emergency" session after the voters rejected a taxpayer financed $500 million stadium for the Seattle Mariners. The legislature passed the bill, and the Governor signed it! All despite the overwhelming and clear "no" vote of the people.

Typical hypocrisy from the left...the smell of hypocrisy in their cities should be an EPA sanctioned hazard. It probably erodes their precious ozone.
And as this thread has shown, the left wing doesn't really care about "the children" when they are required to put THEIR money where their mouths are. More proof their tired old rhetoric is just that.

Usually the legislatures just pass the tax and let the people howl.
