Remember this was the main motivation for involving the U.S. at the time.

This was, after all, the Clinton era, in which officers in U.S. Marines commando training were given mysterious questionnaires asking if they would obey a command to shoot American citizens who disobeyed a law that required them to disarm. This is the first time I've ever heard of this.

This worries me.
Rush is saying that the general suspicion is that Clarke is being advanced as a VP for Hillary. Rush says that the nine dwarves will gang up on him and clean his carcass. He cites Clarkes megalomania, his micromanagement, and his lies.
Those faults never stopped clinton.
He'll be no one's second fiddle; I suspect. What about the Dwarves? Simple; buy them out. Let's see, Mosely Braun, Secretary of Civil Rights (high time we got one of those doncha think?) Kerry, Secretary of State, Sharpton, Interior, etc.
You get the drift.
Scary. If Clarke were running against Hillary, I'd vote for Hillary.

"The student's idea for the thesis originated from the Department of Defense's Bottom Up Review, which included a section on peacekeeping, disaster relief, humanitarian assistance and peace enforcement operatons, and from Presidential Review Directives 13 and 25, which directed DOD (Dept. of Defense) to create a U.S. military force structure whose command and control would include the United Nations."

"Does anyone else think the selection of Waco Clark means the Clintons and their leftist allies intend to settle things this time around? We've been drifting toward the end game for a long time. Perhaps they feel it is time to make the final move."
God, it almost seems like it, doesn't it? This egotistical and Machiavellian couple are everything that is anethema to a free American republic.

And along those lines, I think this is most like the Democrats nominating General "Little Mac" Mcclellen as their candidate in 1864. He couldn't beat Lee, or Lincoln either.....

I don't think the facts in this article are really going to hurt Clark that much. Wishful thinking on our part.
Read the article carefully regarding the questionnaire given to Marines. It does not say that Clark was involved in that. The article just blames generally the Clinton Administration. Clark was not Commandant of the Marine Corps, nor was he CJCS. If he can be linked to that questionnaire somehow, fine. But I don't see any evidence of that.
As for starting WWIII....isn't it us Republicans who usually talk about the need to be tough? And do we really want to be relying on statements made by Euroweenie diplomats? I mean, aren't we the ones who say the Euros lack cojones? Seems to me that Clark has an easy out: " I had no intention of starting WWIII. Sometimes, you've gotta play poker, and our side folded too early.
And then, we're going to go after him for being "soft" on Iraq? That's going to seem inconsistent with portraying him as a hot-tempered war monger from Kosovo. And do we really think its a "minus" if he was removed from office by Clinton?????
This guy scares me, because I think we're being overly optimistic over how this stuff will play, and minimizing the ability of his campaign to spin it. I'm hoping he has some personality traits or other opinions that are going to hurt his campaign, because this other stuff doesn't impress me as being very useful ammo.

"While commanding NATO troops in defense of Muslim Kosovo and against Serbian Christians, for example, the hot-headed Clark commanded a subordinate British General to attack Russian troops that had landed without NATO permission at the airport in Kosovos capital. (Clark speaks fluent Russian but chose not even to talk with the Russian troops before attacking them.) The British General Sir Mike Jackson reportedly refused Clarks risky orders, saying: Im not going to start the Third World War for you! Others who interviewed Gen. Clark in Kosovo were shocked by his casual talk about how he would launch military strikes against Hungary if it tried to send fuel to the Christian Serbians, or against Russian ships if they entered the war zone."
Now tell me again how you claim that leftists are better than conservatives for our country...

If there was a secret questionnaire asking Marine officers if they would shoot American citizens if they disobeyed a law to disarm, and this questionnaire came from the Clinton adminsitration, or at its knowledge and encouragement, then the writing is on the wall, folks. Is there objective confirmation that such a question was indeed posed to military officers? If so, we need to get it out to the people. I do hope it is not true; but if it is, I fear the worst.
MOLON LABE!

Per your Post #24, it wasn't just Clark who was lying about the mass graves in Kosovo. French President Chirac also lied about them, as did Clinton and Albright...none of whom even went to the UN for permission to wage war there in 1999, nor did our left-wing media bother to demand that UN inspectors verify such wild-eyed claims.

Ive got some heavy artillery that can come in. Ive got good logistics, and Ive got strategic mobility, said Clark to Newsweek Magazine."How is a guy who talks like that gonna get pinko Rat primary voters to vote for him, regardless of how many Clintonistas support him?
Hardcore Lefties such as Michael Moore become almost orgasmic when they envision a debate between General Clark and Texas Air National Guard veteran President George W. Bush. I know, writes Moore, who the winner is going to be.
They said the same thing about Algore.
I really don't think 21st Century Americans are going to vote for a President named "Wesley."
