ATF Night Hosted by California Assembly Nominee John Brantuk Telephone: (562) 698-2870 email: John.W.Brantuk@BrantukForAssembly.org www.BrantukForAssembly.org

What is "ATF Night"? No, we're not the federal gun control agency. We are a social gathering of Second Amendment and liberty activists and leaders who meet monthly to discuss firearms-related issues over (optional) adult beverages and dinner, and afterwards, those so inclined may choose to step outside to continue discussions while enjoying a fine cigar - hence the name.

Originally hosted by The Lawyers' Second Amendment Society, the meetings have continued thanks to the leadership assumed by John Brantuk, Republican Nominee for the California State Assembly ( see www.BrantukForAssembly.org )

You don't have to be an activist to join us - newcomers and the curious are always welcome. And admission is always free.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| "1ST DEBATE" - from the San Francisco Chronicle 09/04/2003 On many of the issues Wednesday night, McClintock stood alone. He opposed abortion, vowed never to raise taxes and called for fewer restrictions on gun ownership, since "people have a fundamental right to defend themselves from violent predators."

His strong conservative stances likely won him some votes, possibly at the expense of more moderate Republicans such as Schwarzenegger and Ueberroth.

Republican analyst Tony Quinn said McClintock stood out from the pack of other hopefuls.

"Arnold's problem is they've got to get rid of McClintock -- and this hurt him," he said. "This gave McClintock the attention he won't get otherwise."

Pollster Mervyn Field agreed. "Arnold was hurt tonight," he said. "The question was: If he'd have been here, would he have been hurt more?"

"McClintock was forceful, and remarkable in his contrasts on positions" from the others.

Damn straight! I'm sick and tired of being force-fed liberal and socialist garbage in the guise of (R)nold, here in the heart of conservative cyberspace!

Take a look:

http://www.freerepublic.com/"

Adoption rights for gays... same as Davis
Willing to tax... same as Davis
Loves abortion... same as Davis
Likes illegals... same as Davis
Against 2nd Amendment rights... same as Davis

What does a conservative lose by choosing to keep Davis rather than voting for (R)nold?

(R)nold advisors include Warren Buffet, 2 Kennedys - what advice could these people give him as governor that would possibly benefit conservatives in any way whatsoever?

There's everything to gain for a conservative to choose McClintock on the ballot and no on the recall.

First, by voting McClintock, they can cast a ballot for something they actually believe in. (They don't have to live with themselves having voted for a pro-baby-murder candidate, for instance.)

Also, from a conservative point of view, CA gets an executive no worse than what it already has, doesn't risk compounding the error with either (R)nold nor Busty, and the sitting governor would be dogmeat for any credible candidate in 2006.

The show of conservative strength would make the CA GOP, and perhaps the national party and/or other state parties understand that conservativism needs to be respected if the GOP wants to win. Since this is the philosophical root of the party, it is a very reasonable demand, but it is not negotiable.

This would put conservatives in the strongest possible position, within the GOP itself AND within the electorate as a whole, to advance an articulate, competent, conservative who can win votes from the electorate by persuasion, as is the tradition of the United States of America.

This method is a proven success, at all points on the political spectrum. Those who believe in something and are able to articulate it well sway the most votes.

All selling out for 3 years of very limited executive power can do is lay the blame for California's disaster at the feet of the GOP. It's not worth it.

Crossed-eyed, no lips, and no answer when asked if he would he drop out if poll numbers showed he had no chance a week out of Oct 7.

I saw it. He didn't even have the grace to say he would happily accept Schwarzenegger's endorsement (in the unlikely event he were to overtake A.S. in the polls).

He sounded very small in that exchange.

You are the one decent serious candidate in this race.

Depends on how you define "decent".

I heard on the Hugh Hewitt's radio program today a report that Indian tribes who support Bustamante---and the fellow described their rapturous ads created to support him---also are making ads for McClintock. The fact that McClintock accepts this kind of thing is not what I would call "decent".

I haven't read past this post, so someone may have addressed your mistaken point, but I heard a guy describe the ads these same tribes (the very same tribes) have produced for Bustamante. The are full of adulation.

They are NOT making ads for McClintock because they support him.

And McClintock knows that.
