True meaning of giving ST. LOUIS (AP) A divorced man donated part of his liver to his ex-wife earlier this year at the suggestion of his new fiancee. Doctors at St. Louis University Hospital said the transplant may have saved Vivian Corrie's life. Corrie, of Troy, Ill., learned in 1995 that she had primary biliary cirrhosis, a genetic liver disease that can lead to life-threatening complications. Five years later, Corrie's brother discovered he had the same disease. Before he could receive a transplant, he died in 2001 at 56.

Yeah, if my exwife gave me her liver I'd feed it to the cat and dog.

Well, it's not my threesome fantasy...

Well, it could have been worse. At least his lawyer was somehow able to negotiate it down to just half of his liver.

this is a beautiful real-life story of love and friendship. I don't understand everyone's grief... of course I've never been divorced... married for 32 years (to the same person).

I find this to be amazingly noble. The man is a saint. The world is a better place because he is in it.

If my ex-wife was on fire, and I had a full bladder, I'd risk kidney damage.

Wonderful story.

My best friend died a few days ago for lack of a donor. I will miss her terribly.

He did it to spare his son.

Her 32-year-old son offered to be the donor... But the young man's father... feared that their son was too weak from an accident the year before to undergo the surgery.

I read the article. The world is a better place because he is in it. He spared his son and saved his exwife because he had guts and love.

Skepticism and cynicism are different things.

Well, I see the usual crowd is here damning marriage. Never mind. My ex-wife and I get along very well. We were married for 14 years. If she needed a liver transplant, and mine was compatible, I'd donate part of it to her. And my current wife of 12 years would be right behind me.

Not every divorce is nasty, and not every ex-wife is out to get all she can.

Kudos to this guy for his generous offer. He saved a life. All you who are ragging on him and his ex are way out of line, in my opinion. I'm sorry your marriages ended badly, but that doesn't mean that this guy didn't do a good thing.

From the photo, it looks like the grandchildren are the biggest winners. Saving your children's mother and your grandchildren's grandmother is getting an awful lot back, isn't it?

I agree.

The man's just good.

Wish more couples who break up could be so decent to one another.

"I wonder if she got 1/2 of the liver.... "

In California she would get the whole thing and he would get a restraining order against him to prevent visitation.

Truthfully if she put up with as much crap as my first wife she deserved part of his liver.

I am going through Divorse Because of this same disease. Ive lived with her diagnosis for four years and the medications and mood swings and a certain therapist have made my live hell. Mood swings, Calling CPS, threatning my life. Cirrhosis is never easy to go through for the family of victims either. Most of the Profesionals tell me to divorce because its going to get worse. A shame since we never even got a chance to try antideppresent. Please evaluate your own situation.
