Why is McClintock being urged to drop out? Last poll I saw he was only behind 25- 18%. Why not have Arnie drop out and let his supports vote for McClintok. The biggest problem is Arnie is liberal. If Arnie is such a liberal, what makes you think his supporters would shift to McClintock? Wouldn't they be more likely to shift to Bustamante, the other liberal in the race?
If Arnie is not a liberal, and a supporter of Arnie is just as likely to support McClintock as well, quit yer bellyachin' and line up behind the guy in front!

So far S, absolutely Tom is being a bridge burner.
I'm a logical person to the extreme S, and the behavior of Tom in this campaign has been unusual (to be kind).
I really don't enjoy being upset at how Tom has handled this campaign.
I see a perfectly good candidate who could be the future for California a few years that is in a political meltdown and it makes no sense.
This also raised the issue of judgment and whether Tom would be fit to lead since he is so off in his world in this election.
Tom was a great guy who just wasn't prepared to win this race at this time.
He has taken this opportunity to get his name out to more people and converted this instead into what has been perceived as a spoiler campaign.
Makes no common sense S.

If Arnold is such a liberal, then why has he signed up as a Republican spouting conservative fiscal concerns?
If Arnold just wanted the job, it would have been much easier to sign up as a Democrat with his name recognition.
He would be elected easily, would be a hero in Hollywood and the press.
Instead he is given grief as a Republican and has the press and Hollywood against him.
So I admire Arnold sticking by his principles and being a Republican which is much harder to be than a Democrat.
He is a fiscal conservative and winnable whereas McClintock's whole future is imploding.

"As Governor, I will:
Aggressively lobby Washington to set a more
responsible policy for addressing the undocumented
immigrants currently in the United States.
Deportation is not an option. We need to find a way to
legitimize these individuals and get them on a path
toward legal residency status in the United States. "

is how the Democrats kept EVERY other potential dim out of the raceRepublicans are more hateful to one another than they are to democrats. As we all know there are a lot of "r's" that should be "d's" and visa versa. In my home state, the r's are more liberal than a lot of d's! Those on this thread that delude themselves about the split in the republican party do so at their own risk. For instance, take any social issue you like, the d's caucus and come out knowing how the vote will be on that one issue, they just make sure the final vote moves the agenda to the left. R's fight it out in public and move nothing to the right. We at times, as conservatives, believe we are making a deference but in the end we get nothing. To go along with a RINO is to go along with the lefts agenda. That's where principle comes into play. I personally would never sell my "principles" for a moderate republican, he/she is worst than any democrat because he/she is standing behind the republican party while at the same time opposing the agenda of his/her party. I was never that excited about GW. I had verified long before the election that he was a social conservative but a fiscal moderate. In the end I knew that was probably the most popular among most American's and even though we move to the left on spending I also knew that it was the only way a republican could get elected. Its too bad that we have to go down this road but there is no recourse but to hit bottom. I don't post too much here and have considered leaving altogether, especially after the fight over the Kalifonia boondogle, I just hope and pray that if the r's don't get behind McClintock than let the d's have the mess of their own making, Rrnold will make no difference.

You're falling into the trap of voting for the guy with an "R". Arnie has no experience, which isn't a bad thing necessarily, but look at who his advisers are... Pete Wilson a tax raising "Republican" and the man advocating property tax increases... Warren Buffett. A man with no experience will look to his advisers. You know what they'll say : "You have to raise taxes Arnie."
Mc Clintock has spend years fighting for true conservative principles without flip-flopping and now he has to bow out because some actor wants to run? Meanwhile the actor is certaintly no Ronald Reagan.
