The publisher, Puffin, reports that Madonna's The English Rose, is "the fastest-selling children's picture book of all time." It sold more than ten thousand in just the UK in the first week, a mere 220 copies fewer than the latest Harry Potter did in its first week. It was released simultaneously in 100 countries, and in 30 languages. The leading London bookstore says Madonna's book "is selling incredibly well". It is the first of five projected children's books that Madonna plans.
