The Islamic al-Awqaf department in Jerusalem have accused the Israeli authorities of being behind the collapse of an internal wall in al-Aqsa mosque yesterday after it had prevented its engineers form maintaining it.

The collapsed wall is situated near the Islamic museum on a hill in old Jerusalem where the mosque is situated. This wall is considered new in comparison to other parts of the mosque.

The director of the Islamic Awqaf in Jerusalem Adnan al-Husseini said that the wall collapsed as a result of "the Israeli intervention in our work and preventing us from maintaining it after we stated it was in an urgent need for a rapid action to prevent its collapse."

[Someone else here made a passing note about this. No one really took up on it. So I report a fuller report.]

"Its all the Jews' fault!"

I posted the article and before I could read it myself on the News section, you posted a blame the Jews response. All in under one minute.

Check the time, people. UNDER ONE MINUTE!

Your response time in blaming the Jews is amazing. Have you considered career opportunities at Al-Jazeera or the BBC?

Though the BBC, being of a high journalistic standard, may require you to reduce that response time to 30 seconds. Go for it.

I'm not blaming Jews. I was being sarcastic. I should have said as much. Don't assume I see Jews as being responsible; after all I'm a Jew myself. I'm trying to get across the point people blame every evil under the sun on Jews and that's not true. There are people who should work for Al Jazeera and perhaps the Beep but I'm not one of them. Yes, anti-Semites will blame the Jews. Its a habit as old as the human race. And its one that's not going to disappear from the world any time soon.

Yes, I was being SARCASTIC. You know its my way of being a straight shooter and back slapping idiots too quick to come to a hasty judgment about Jews. There's a lot of anti-Semitism in the Muslim and Arab world and that's the unthinking habit that's bred into these people. It never occurs to them Israel for once might NOT be guilty of any wrong doing. Just try enlightening them. They don't think over there like we do in the West about these matters.

I knew you were sarcastic. It was just your turn around time that impressed me. I posted it at 11:53 PDT and then went back to My Comments; then I re-entered the forum, only to see that within 1 minute, by 11:54, someone, whether literally or sarcastically, had blamed the Jews.

You really do have a future as a BBC MidEast correspondent.

The real question remains. Was the collapse an omen?

Note: It was first reported in Israeli and Western Presses that it was the Islamic Museum Wall. Interestingly, the Arab press says it was the Al-Asqa Mosque wall. Do the structures share a wall or are the Arabs lying to exaggerate the claim?

Let's see if we can get the response time to this in under one minute, too. Eyes and ears, people. I will be checking.

I don't know. But anything happening on Temple Mount close to the birthday of the world would have a supernatural connotation to it. I guess we'll find out over the coming weeks and months what this all means.

The ease that these people lie with is incredible! I very disticntly heard about a year ago that Jewish archeologists and other Jewish groups that are involved with the Temple Mount were begging the Muslims to let them examine the damage that they knew was occuring before it was too late. The MUSLIMS were the ones who refused to even let them get near close enough to assess the structural damage, much less even speak of them fixing it. The lies just roll off their tounge.

Article dating back to 2001. Check out the bold print (added for emphasis by me)

A WALL OF AL-AQSA MOSQUE IN DANGER OF COLLAPSE
Palestinians refuse to cooperate with Israel to prevent collapse of Temple Mount retaining wall

(Article by Khaled Abu-Toameh, Iton Yerushalayim, 17.8.2001, p. 18) [Translated by Israel Government Press Office

Israel fears that Temple Mount retaining wall will collapse and region will burn. The problem: Aerial photographs of Temple Mount have proven that al-Aqsa Mosque's southern wall is inclined to one side. The reasons: Wear-and-tear over time, ground shifting and renovations being carried out by Waqf. The proposal: Israel proposed to assist in renovating wall but Waqf has yet to respond. Waqf: "If wall collapses, there will be general war." The municipality: "We are helpless."

Experts from Israel and other countries around the world have recently determined that one of Al-Aqsa Mosque's retaining walls is in danger of collapse. They claim that if renovations are not carried out immediately at the site, the wall is liable to collapse. Such an event, if it happens, has a vast potential for destruction and would even be liable - beyond direct losses to life that would be caused by a collapse - to ignite the Middle East. The Arab world would likely claim that the wall's collapse was the result of a religious-Israeli plot to destroy the mosques on the Temple Mount and build the Third Temple in their place.

I am not sure if it is the same wall. But one report blames the Arabs for using to much concrete when they poured a structure in the Islamic Museum next to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. And this is what precipitated this collapse.

Inasmuch as these morons destroyed a large amount of World History when they excavated Solomon's Stables with bulldozers, I am not sympathetic to their plight.

PS: How do you post an image on these posts.

PPS: Have you ever seen a collective shot of them praying at the Al-Asqa Mosque, where on command thousands of Arabs squat all at once and their asses collectively all at once shoot up into the air? 5000 behinds squating upward while their faces hug the rugs. Just as someone says Allahu Akbar. Were I the deity, that would not be a pretty site.

Looks like they are collectively mooning the Creator. I suppose it depends on your point of view.

One thing is for sure. If Arafat had used German Engineers, the Al-Aqsa wall would not have collapsed.

Author of the famous battle cry:

"Kill the Jews wherever you find them. This pleases God, history and religion. This saves your honor. God is with you."

The Israelis warned about several walls having structural problems. The Muslims would not allow them to work on shoring things up for fear they would find more of the ruins of the Temple and perhaps get more a claim to the site.

Moriah, or the Temple Mount

That is, the site of the ancient temple, in Arabic, Al Charim, "The Holy." It is enclosed on all four sides with a high wall and buildings; and the southern and eastern parts of this enclosure form, at the same time, the city wall in these directions. The western part is the well-known and revered fragment of the wall of the holy temple mount, and is named the Kothel Hama'arabi, i. e. the west wall. It is sixty feet in height, and has twenty-three rows of stone. The nine lower rows consist of large stones, three to four cubits long, and two cubits broad and high. The upper fourteen rows, however, consist of smaller stones; and hence it would appear that this upper part belongs to a later period, and was perhaps built by Caliph Omar. It is also called "the mourning wall," since thousands of Israelites constantly deplore there and weep for the fall of Jerusalem. It is touching to see how every Jew bends his head, moaning and reverentially, at the foot of this holy wall, and lifts up his tearful eyes to heaven, and exclaims, sobbing, "How long yet, O Lord!" This spot is visited by travellers of all nations; and no one can ever quit the place unmoved, and with indifference. It is no vain fancy! I have indeed often seen there non-Israelitish travellers melt into tears. No one can describe the feelings experienced on this sacred spot. One paints to himself in spirit the former exalted state of the Israelitish people in the highest degree, and then feels suddenly that it is sunk into the dust and robbed of its glory; but his imagination places again before him the future exaltation--he feels himself inspired, and exclaims, "Surely this is the gate of heaven!" (Gen. 28:17.) This wall is visited by all our brothers on every feast and festival; and the large space at its foot is often so densely filled up, that all cannot perform their devotions here at the same time. It is also visited, though by less numbers, on every Friday afternoon, and by some nearly every day. No one is molested in these visits by the Mahomedans, as we have a very old firman from the Sultan of Constantinople that the approach shall not be denied to us, though the Porte obtains for this privilege an especial tax, which is, however, quite insignificant.

A bit off topic, but this reminds me of something:

Revelation 6:9-14

6 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

Mosque Wall Collapse on the Temple Mount
00:51 Sep 24, '03 / 27 Elul 5763

(IsraelNN.com) The southern wall of the Islamic Museum on the Temple Mount has collapsed -- the result of pouring too much concrete on the roof of the structure years ago, leading to the collapse due to the excess weight.

Can I hear an OMEIN!?!

Temple Mount Wall Collapses
12:23 Sep 25, '03 / 28 Elul 5763

One side of a wall in the Temple Mount compound - completely visible to worshippers at the Western Wall - collapsed on Tuesday, uncovering an area of some 40 square meters of dirt and fill. The wall belongs to the Islamic Museum on the Temple Mount, a building to the right and above the worshipers at the Western Wall, identified by a small gray dome.

Archaeologist Dr. Eilat Mazar, a member of the Committee to Prevent the Destruction of Temple Mount Antiquities, said that the collapse is connected with the illegal construction works being carried out on the Temple Mount by the Moslem Waqf. Speaking with Yisrael Medad on Arutz-7's "Freedom of Broadcast" program, Dr. Mazar said that these works have been ongoing for many years without supervision by either the Planning and Construction authorities or the Antiquities Authority.

"No one is concerned about preserving the ancient compound," she said, "nor has anyone mapped, surveyed or buttressed the hollow areas under the Temple Mount and under the mosques... It is frightening to think of this collapse, and of what could happen in the future when many tens of thousands of people visit the Temple Mount, and tractors and trucks - and all of this atop hollow areas that have never been professionally checked. This collapse should be a warning bell. If a catastrophe occurs, the whole world will blame Israel."

She said that opening the compound to Jewish visitors is "just the beginning; pressure must be exerted in order that the supervisory authorities do what they are supposed to. The press must get involved in this cause."
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

How can the press tell G-d what to do or fathom what falls next?

And I STILL say....OMEIN!!!

I've been following this a little. A few items, I apologize for lack of original sourcing:

The muslims have been for the last couple of years excavating under Al-aqsa to create a larger prayer hall.

The Jews have compalined, saying that it's destroying valuable archeological artiifacts, They also claim that it may be an attempt to erase as much as possible, evidence that links the Mount to the Jews.

(In Palestinian schools and mosques, Arab kids are taught that there is no historical connection between the Jews and the Land of Israel, that it is a fiction invented by imperialist westerners and zionists)

Subsequent to this excavation and construction, the South Wall (not the Western, "Wailing" wall) was found to be bulging outward.

A dispute arose about whether it was in fact bulging, at last the Waqf admitted wahat everyone else saw and with the help of the Jordanians started to "repair" the bulge. Then they compalined that the Israelis were hindering access to the southern wall.

Now thewre is word that this interior wall of Al Aqsa has collapsed.

The South Wall is where the "hulda staircase" once was, (remnants still there). This is where Jesus often went up to enter the Temple precincts.

Israel warned the Pali's to stop digging under the Temple Mount in Solomon's stables, in their hurried attempt to remove any trace of Jewish historical claims to the site, lest they weaken and collapse the structures above.

They didn't listen, so now instead of taking responsibility for what they themselves have caused, they lie like they always do.

Like termites, they have destroyed what they falsely claim is their third holiest site. Many Christian believers have thought it would come down in a mighty earthquake, or some other awesome act of God, not taking into account God's wry sense of humor.

I find it very amusing. I have spent many a night on the computer staring at that ugly toad of a dome, squatting where it ought not, and praying for it to be removed. It tickles me pink to think the whole top of the place could go at any minute, and in my life time to boot, the icing on the cake, the cherry on the sundae, is the Pali's have no one to blame but themselves.
