This "partiotism" is truely that of a scoundrel. Your last statement, inflammatory and uninformed, is nothing short of pathetic.

You show self for liar. You must make earnings off China. In Russia push for Russian companies first...Russian unemployment lowest of European G-8 members and economy grown more then all other G-8 combined. China, by way, practice Chinese made products ONLY. You want sell in China? You make in China. I think you work for company that make monies on outsourcing....but then you also sound like Texas_hog who never around when you post....hmmmm????

But selective attention to them is propaganda. And that what Willie Green does: posts exclusively anti-corporate and anti-capitalist pieces, often from really poor sources.

Perhaps then you could balance this out for us by posting news reports of mass-hirings in the US, new factories being opened in the US, production lines being started up (perhaps even brought in from say China or India?), from reputable sources like Forbes, WSJ, Dow Jones, Etc? In fact, lets start with you posting 1 article of a mass hiring (on the same scale as the layoffs) for a US factory and see where that goes. Show us what we've been selectively ignoring.

Well, the unemployement is 6.1% which until very recently was considered minimal possible.

That's only counting the number of people currently collecting UI benefits. Once they fall off the UI roles, they are no longer counted in that statistic, and you must turn to the Household survey data to get a full picture. The rate of total unemployed and underemployed is currently 10.0%:

From the THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION reports I have accumulated table A12 Line U-6 data for May 2003 thru present, not seasonally adjusted.
Unemployment (Household Survey Data)

                                                                 Not seasonally adjusted

                                                                 August May June July August
                                                                 2002 2003 2003 2003 2003

U-6 Total unemployed, plus all marginally attached workers,
plus total employed part time for economic reasons, as a
percent of the civilian labor force plus all marginally
     attached workers......................................... 9.5 9.7 10.6 10.5 10.0
    1 Data not available.
NOTE: Marginally attached workers are persons who currently are neither working nor looking for work but indicate that they want
and are available for a job and have looked for work sometime in the recent past. Discouraged workers, a subset of the marginally
attached, have given a job-market related reason for not currently looking for a job. Persons employed part time for economic
reasons are those who want and are available for full-time work but have had to settle for a part-time schedule. For further
information, see "BLS introduces new range of alternative unemployment measures," in the October 1995 issue of the Monthly Labor
Review. Beginning in January 2003, data reflect revised population controls used in the household survey.

I'm noticing that Jeans, Dockers, etc. are becoming less consistent and reliable in size. I.e. a specific size used to be reliable, but over the last several years a certain inseam length, for example, can vary by as much as one and a half inches from the stated size.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. So, I have adjusted my shopping accordingly .... If a store doesn't have my size jeans that fit ... I shop elsewhere...

But, seriously ... I have noticed a 2 inch variation in the waist measurements, and about a 1.5 inch variation in the length in the same brand, color and style of jeans; from the same rack. And I wonder, how can you mass produce anything with this much variation; and then claim you are producing efficiently? It seems like they just make pants, then sort the day's production into an arbitrary size range.

"Well, the unemployement is 6.1% which until very recently was considered minimal possible. Great news."

If you believe any government statistic from the last 13 years, I want you to email me so I can sell you some property on the side of this 8000 ft. high mountain I own in South Florida.

"stop demanding unreasonable salaries that are not justified by their prodictivity"

You are asking mankind to change a basic flaw and that is greed. You'd have a better chance of getting people to stop super sizing their meals and lose weight....ain't gonna happen.

"Ignorance of how the core American institutions work, coupled with purely socialist envy constantly fueled by the elites will lead to that ourcome."

You mean like the "core American instututions" which ban prayer anywhere, restrict the rights of citizens over non-citizens, and allow a philandering liar to commit acts of treason and murder while the Senate neglects it's Constitutionally assigned duties?

By privilede few, I was refering to the management, the fund manager, and others who hold and exercise real power. That describes a very small set of people and they are anything but "simple folks".

And I told you in the previous post that they are workers ---- highly paid but workers --- and there is nothing privileged about them. GO buy a book before you continue to defame hard-working, honest peope!

What the h-ll does the "fund manager" has to do with jobs?

It scares me that you vote.

Your point being? Jobs are being leveled almost daily here in the South. This will hurt plants here in NC and SC. I could give a dern less what party the corporation sponsors

Do you think we can overcome a recession by closing plants and sending the jobs overseas?

It's time to wake up, Dentist: we've overcome the recession.

So do you suggest that American companies do not have foreign subsidiaries? No jobs oversees?

Anything that hurts Levis hurts the gun-grabbers.

What's interesting here is the NRA gives to Democrats. In fact, they have even donated to dems who are part of the Progressive Caucus- a blatantly socialist organization within Congress. The NRA's only concern is gun laws. But they give money to candidates who are heavily pro-union (among other things) as long as they perceive that person's gun views being in line with their own. The unions harm business. People lose their jobs.

This is the problem with being a 'single issue' voter or lobby group. You will eventually wind up in bed with people or other groups who are actually the antithesis of what you're all about.

It is not matter of envy, but of the simple survival. People want to put food on the table because their children clamour for it.

That, in general, sounds fine. Except the country is doing fine: we have 6.1% unemployment, very close to what was considered minimal possible. This means people have plenty of food in their mouths.

Envy (on the side of the poorer) and greed (on the side of the richer) plays the role AFTER the necessities are taken care of.

That is a very naive perspective. Take a course in some behavioral sciences. Also, observe people who are well off still b----g about the "unreasonable" salaries of management and the "rich."

About the supposed "ignorance of how the core American institutions work", don't you realise that the free trade policies are a new thing, Firstly, it's not new.

Secondly, that is not what I meant: I was referring to corporations and the roles of owners, managemet, and labor. By itself, it's only a small problem, but ignorance have been replaced by misunderstanding that reads like a Marxist textbook.

I've been wearing Wranglers since I found out Levi's supports anti-gun groups three years ago! Glad to see it's made a difference;-)

Ditto that. My Carhartts last better, anyway. I have been e-mailing to remind them of this every time I buy a new pair.

What about over-qualified engineers with various skills?

One addressed these things differently at an individual and at the aggregate level. There is no problem of this kind at the aggregate level.

You comment seems to confound education and skills. If one has reasonable education, one can move to an adjacent field if particular skill becomes unnecessary.

There is continuing education through workshops, minicourses, and courses in universities that are within the field of specialization. One also improves his job-retention chances by taking a foreing language, computer skills, etc. Last but should've been mentioned first is management courses and knowlege in general.
