Do you choose to explain what (spelled out) F*CK means to your 7 year old daughter?

Sorry pal, shoving F*CK or FCUK into my 7 year old daughter's face is to me very little different than shoving your out thrust pelvis in her face.

Do it around her in my presence, and you will learn about the culture war.

The new style is mid-thigh to knee length plain white logo-less t-shirts over whatever else they've got on.

Well, at least we won't have to see their cracks, eh?

In two years it will just be F*CK spelled out, in public, everywhere.

It already is.
Where've you been, brother?

how our children see us react, rationally or irrationally, sets the basis how they will handle situation. fcuk, sounded out correctly, phkuk, means nothing.

i would have told my seven year old, "it spells phkuk, a nonsense word." his interest in it would have been over....

if he misread the hat, which is possible for a new reader to do, i would have corrected his pronunciation, and informed him that the word he was pronouncing was indeed an offensive word that he shouldn't utter. he doesn't hear that word from me or my associates so in practice he would know that he shouldn't utter it...

now graphic displays of sexual positions are another story, they are what they are, innapropriate for children, but words that aren't even the words that are offensive sets a dangerous precedent.

i cannot tell you how to raise your children, i can tell you i think your reaction was an over-reaction to the situation. that is my right and i respect your right to speak out for the sake of your children, just be careful what lessons you are showing them in the manner of your actions.

I saw a bunch of the "FCUK" tee-shirts on display at a Marshall Fields store in Illinois. Man, did I do a double take. I'm kind of consider myself to be a bit of a "South Park Republican", but I thought that brand is really weird, and strange that a high end store would sell that. Nobody is fooling anybody. You can suger coat a dog turd, but inside its still a dog turd.

Will you join me by making an extra effort in contacting the Target corporation by taking action?

Sorry, but I have a life.

My sentiments exactly.

Go to Walgreen's or Sears. Sears is supporting reservists that are their employees by making up the pay that they're losing while they're deployed.

Read on. I am amazed by the number of freepers who just don't care when this FCUK message is put in front of their children

Actually, there is a fairly large contingent of libertarian leaning freepers (me only slightly) around. I do firmly believe in the freedoms afforded by the Bill of Rights and Amendment I is pretty explicit. Going off on some knucklehead in IHOP because he had a non-word on a cap obviously made you feel better, but what a great life's lesson you could have given your kids on the freedoms we enjoy and the responsibilites that come with those freedoms. Just my two cents.

Your beloved libertarian values Uber Alles will come to a screeching halt when your hat shouts F*CK or FCUK at my 7 year old daughter from ten feet away in a family restaruant.

And if you don't believe me, try it.

The hat will go off of your head, or you will go out the door, and my kids will get to learn (again) that their dad is not a jelly-spined perv worm who thinks flashing obscene words at children in family restaurants is Okie Dokie.

Like you.

That plan wouldn't work, because my children aren't stupid.

Nice try though.

My own skirmish in the culture war.

Way to go. You sound like a Buchanan supporter with your choice of words.

The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. - Edmund Burke

That pretty much explains why our Republic is where it is now.

If you want to teach your 7 year old daughter about f*cking and fcuking, I feel very sorry for her.
