Why is'nt this do nothing congress acting on this? The people have and are making their voices heard but all the attention is going to Iraq.Unless this congress starts addressing domestic issues they will lose in the next election.

Individuals who remove religious symbols are haters. They are hate-filled bigots. They hate religion. They hate religious people. I'll bet you'd think they were heroes if they were trying to pull down the Crescent.
Oh, wait, I forgot... by "religion" you meant exclusively Protestantism. Gotcha.

flood the country with "we are fed up" and get the ACLU into so many class action suites that we bankrupt them. Now you're talking. This is the idea I've had for a long time. We can bankrupt them by deliberatly baiting them. I think it's the best idea yet. If they win one suit causing the removal of a religious symbol, a different party should step in and place another in the same spot. Different person, different lawsuit (we don't have to hire a lawyer, just represent ourselves and plead no-contest). They would have to pay lawyers, court costs etc. since they brought the suit. I've thought about going back to preaching on the public town square like preachers used to do when I was a child. How many times do you reckon I could get arrested?

Well some of us at work had an Idea. We're spreading the Idea at our churches. Lets send the SCOTUS and the ninth circuit a "Christmas card". A particular christmas card.
For SCOTUS and THE 9th Maybe they will get the hint...From the Founding fathers.

My thoughts exactly. I am going to sell my own signs too. I could use $12 million for doing a "good" thing.
The first line that grabbed me when I read this post was "goal of selling 100,000 signs". Sort of says it all.

Putting a Ten Commandments sign on your lawn is a wonderful idea, but putting pressure on your congressman to look into judicial activism goes to the heart of the problem. Wish I had a nickel for each letter/E-Mail/phone call I've made to Feinstein, Boxer, Harman, Rorbacher(?) in Washington and Karnett, Lowenthal and Vincent here in California. After Davis, I'm considering starting recalls on all of the above.

Sorry to be so cynical so early on Monday AM. That's OK - don't worry about it - we all take that road every once in awhile. I did buy the SUPPORT OUR TROOPS sign from Grassfire some months ago. If I remember correctly, that was $12.95 plus postage. It's all worth it - how many chances do we get to "stick" it to the ACLU!

Illegal to have signs in yards? Any signs? Or just 10 Commandments? And if they are illegal, if many people put them anyway, and then if lawsuits are enacted (or whatever the correct word is) the homeowners can use this as a defense:
"It is the duty of all men in society, publicly, and at stated
seasons, to worship the SUPREME BEING, the great Creator
and Preserver of the universe. And no subject shall be hurt,
molested, or restrained, in his person, liberty, or estate, for
worshipping GOD in the manner most agreeable to the dictates of
his own conscience; or for his religious profession or sentiments;
provided he doth not disturb the public peace, or obstruct others
in their religious worship." --John Adams
and if thousands of such suits happen, that might change the fetid atmosphere.

NOW HEAR THIS!!! The price has dropped to $19.95 - and I paid $24.95 - it's well worth it though - hope there are a lot of ACLU folks in the neighborhood.
The $2.00 (now $1.00) is donated to the ACLJ. (See below)
For each sign sold, we'll give $1.00 to the American Center for Law and Justice who fights for All American's Constitutional Rights.

Illegal to have signs in yards? Any signs? Or just 10 Commandments? All signs are illegal. Since homeowners have agreed to the terms when purchasing the property it's hard to fight. Rather than sue the homeowner the association simply fines the homeowner. If he/she doesn't pay they put a lein on the house. Then the house can't be sold without the lein being paid.
There have been a few cases like this regarding people flying the U.S. flag in front of their houses in homeowner's associaitons. I'm pretty sure the people all lost. They signed agreeing to the rules in the first place (even though the rules are bad in many instances).
Now, to be devil's advocate... The rules do stop the 12 foot by eight foot Nazi flag from being flown as well as the U.S. flag. Just as the "no signs" rule stops the obmoxious signs from being posted. I own property in a homeowners association and live on property not in one. There are advantages to both. Personally I'd rather NOT have some little whiner in the neighborhood telling me what I can and can not do to my house (no associaiton).

each 24" x 24" sign...
IMHO, that's not big enough. Should at least be poster sized, 36x24. 3'x3' would be even better.
It's a great idea. Let's all print out copies of this announcement and distribute to our area churches!

Would it be against the rules of the association of homeowners to have something - in this case, the 10 C's -painted directly on the side of the house? Not a yard sign? I have read of HOA that had a say-so over what color the house can be painted. I'd rather be homeless that live under stringent and busybody rules like that!

Also, do these HOA rules mean no political signs for candidates? Or no "US Out of the UN" signs? (There's a lot of those around here - I sure would miss seeing them!)
