Word For The Day
Monday, September 29, 2003 | Slip 18

Posted on 09/29/2003 7:20:58 AM PDT by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip is watching you. She has a large telescope with her today. She will be yanking you out of class and into the Janitor’s closet if you are evil, and then maybe sending you off to the Principal’s office to refresh your memory on the usage of his learning stick. And, yes, the paddle has those wondrous holes in them.

flatulence noun:
Pronunciation: flat’u-lens Etymology: Flatus – Latin “ a blowing”

Excessive gas in the stomach and intestines.

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

Now, Vast and xsmommy, play nicely in here today with all the other students! Flurry, you behave yourself, otherwise Nurse Helga will take care of your flatulence in a not so nice way.

I heard Principal Robinson is roaming the halls today, so all of you students be on your best behavior.

You must use the WFTD in a sentence for an A. For a + after your “A,” you must bring in a link of the word usage or something funny, a poem or some prose that will elucidate the word for us.

If you need to know how to link, come to the Subbie’s desk in the front of the class.

I'm not using Vastie's WFTD, although it is a good one. My computer died on me the minute I tried to post this old WFTD that was already prepared. Who was it that recommended this word? It's not my fault, really!

"SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: The consumption of this burrito may cause flatulence."

BTW, I wrote my first e-mail to Tony telling him that I had dibs on him this past weekend. LOL! Well, that's only if Cyber can get dibs on Laurie.

Perhaps we should apply for a grant to research the effects of second-hand flatulence. I could contribute to the research this morning. It's not bad manners, but good pizza.

Here's some flatulence from some feminists.

Bible for femanists "To demonstrate there's no glass ceiling in heaven, the German Evangelical Church has undertaken the ambitious project of retranslating the Bible in gender-neutral terms."

Specifically, the term disciple is to be changed to "disciples and disciplesses."

Disciplesses?

SHF, Second Hand Food, is a public help hazard. One form of second hand food is flatulence. It is smelly, toxic, and flammable. No one is sure what the long range effects are but it is known that people die from exposure to first hand and second hand food. My grandfather was a life long flatulator and died at 85. He was fond of saying, "I'm so tired I can only bend wind". My grandmother died 15 years later at the age of 95 and we know that most likely it was the 62 years of exposure to grandpa's flatulence.

Stop the madness now. Tax poots and ban them from all places both public and private. It's for the children.

we are normally relegated to the dustbin of chat, but slippy is a substitute teacher for today. miss rika is our REGULAR teacher. Slippy slipped up and put us in news. if you would like to matriculate, you can freepmail rikastrom to be put on the class roster : ) the object is to use the word for the day in a sentence using a current event. teacher likes links, haikus, anagrams etc. and gives extra recess and plusses for those : )
