I don't like the word sacrifice either. I do covet occasionally, thinking how nice a wonderful vacation would be or wanting a beautiful $5,000 bedroom set at the furniture store. I have to remind myself when I'm not content that this is the life I have chosen. It's what I want and I would NOT be happy working with my kids being raised by someone else.

God is faithful and blesses us with bargains and free things. For example, a man from church is loaning us his mountain cabin in N.C. for Thanksgiving this year for free. What more could I ask for? :)

"Children are not taught to learn or to think, they are taught to be a cog, to listen and perform to a acceptable standard."

This is dead on correct. What really opened my eyes is that being a "cog" was the orginal intention of the school system's founders. This was revealed to me in the research of John Taylor Gatto, specifically his huge Underground History of American Education. This former teacher of the year, his books, and video project can be found at http://www.johntaylorgatto.com/. My favorite little article is one we've posted, http://www.homelifeacademy.com/gatto.php
