Wonderful job on Savage streaming - do you have an internet stream link for Bob Dornan?
To: BUSHdude2000
I just discovered that my future sons-in-law listen to Savage. In fact, one of them said he was driving home from work one evening and didn't want to get out of the car because he was listening. I especially enjoyed Savage's coverage of the Calif debate last week.
To: BUSHdude2000
Whoa, listening to my recorded Mike this AM, rant on UNESCO/Bush needs repeating. Undoing Reagan's accomplishments, that's a crime!

He just destroyed that left wing caller. That was great!

Hope you're listening today. This was one of the best starts I've ever heard.

Yes, that was pretty funny. Sounds like he had to bleep himself a bit, too! :-)

638 PM PST - This is one of my great dreams! Doc Savage rapping with my old hero from my NYC days, Bob Grant!
Christmas came early this year!

Darn! I missed it. What was said?
To: Dr. Scarpetta
Grant was subbing for Doc, for the first time ever, I think. I grew up in NY, and having been a conservative since age 12, I grew up with Bob.
When I moved to LV, one of the nfew things I missed was Mr. Grant.
Bob was doing a great job with the show, and at about 638 or so Doc called in, saying he was listening. They were VERY gracious to each other, very magnanimous. They discussed no real political issue of the day but some radio host-to-radio host stuff, and he invited Bob to San Fran, and Bob said they could go to little italy together in nyc and have a bottle of wine and spaghetti.
It was awesome - it was like The Green Hornet showing up on Batman! Actually, it will come on in a few minutes (938 PST) on WCBM, so click on it if you can! You will love it!

I usually listen to part of Bob Grant everyday. He's a good interviewer. Is Savage going to be back tonight?
To: Dr. Scarpetta
Hey Doc,
Doc Savage said he will be on tonight, yep!

Also, I was a huge Bob Grant fan for years, one of the few things I miss about NYC. My only problem with Mr Grant is he would get one extended spells of being bitter, and I prefer his more good humored approach.
Bob is usually spot-on with his observations, though. I like him a lot and always will. A reason i like Savage so much is that he is very direct and also very good humored. Even when he is down, he is seldom bitter. That's important in a commentator.
For me today, it was like Superman meeting Captain Marvel. Just an amazing 5 minutes they shared!

Remember this?
"Mario! A sienta me. Tu sci propio uno sfachime!"
To: Dr. Scarpetta
Remember it? Haha I'm Italian so it was always 'extra' funny in our household!
In fact, a guy who sang an opera version of that slogan for Bob (now moved to florida I think he said) called up Bob today on the Savage Nation and mentioned it. While Bob didn't seem to recall it, I certainly did, and remembered the caller from my NY days! Bob then proceeded to put down the cuckolded little Andrew Cuomo, which made me laugh out loud!
I never forgave WABC Radio for screwing Bob - Even though they were the Rush/Hannity station, I never forgave them!

When I moved to LV, one of the nfew things I missed was Mr. Grant. You're in Las Vegas? How's that working out compared to NY?
To: Dr. Scarpetta
Yes, Las Vegas.
It's working out very well. I was a lawyer in nyc, very unhappy, working too many hours, and working with people who didn't value me and just kept taking more and more, and giving less and less.
so I did some soul searching and decided to split - LV was really the only city I could go to, haha. Enough like NYC that I was comfy, different enough to be exciting for me. I like the climate, taxes, and quality of life.
I went into business for myself and am enjoying it. So far so good - it will 'breakout' sometime in next 1/2 year, and I'll be doing much much better.
I work from home though so sometimes I don;t have a lot of human contact. After living in NYC for 33+ years, and after working in the law business for 9 years, it was a welcome change, what can I say? As my business is stabilizing and I am more in a 'maintenence mode' rather than a 'creative mode' I will have more chances to grow into my city, explore it, and establish roots.
I do date though - women in LV are MUCH nicer than women in NYC. Then again, they charge me by the hour, so it's hard for me to say. Well, it's more honest than NYC women! Haha!
I love Las Vegas - I don't miss most of nyc. The things I miss, oddly, besides family and some friends, is being near water. I grew up on manhattan, downtown, so always took waterways for granted. I didn't expect to miss that, but I do.
Visits to NYC are rare for me - I just can't stomach it. It just stinks. I notice the store closing,s the dirt, grime, the lowlifes, etc. NYC became more ugly to me as 2000 rolled in, and every time I visit, it's just a little uglier. I never expected that to happen to me (I always expected to live and die in nyc), but it was time for a radical change. So far so good! Keep me in your prayers! ;-)

I didn't expect to miss that, but I do. I live about 70 miles from NY (in PA) so I don't get there too often. Right now the scenery is beautiful with the changing leaves. Every once in a while we go to NY to see a show so we get to see the nicest parts of the city.
I feel the same way about the water and enjoy going boating at a nearby lake. Best wishes and good luck out there.

Did Doc bail from the neck pain in the 3rd hour tonight? I'm bummed - the announced introduced the 3rd hour as 'the best of' and it's just clips now.

I heard him talking about his neck pain tonight.
BTW, do you know if Mike is divorced? I've heard him talk about his children, but he never mentions a wife.

I got on tonight in the last hour.
I screwed up and asked him how he was doing, haha I was nervous. He didn't seem to mind. I told him to avoid Reno and do the show in Las Vegas, cause he is bigtime. He agreed, and then I suggested he model the old Dean Martin show and come down a flight of stairs and sing a song, do the headlines, etc. He responded to that very well I thought, then I said he needs an intimate environment to connect with his audience.
Then I lost the line - I don't think he hung up on me, I think my cell phone lost the signal! Anyway, he seemed like he liked my idea, though when I vanished he probably made fun of me. It was a pleasure to speak to Doc!

I caught him talking about doing a show in Vegas. How did that come up?
To: Dr. Scarpetta
Doc Savage said he has a lot of energy and needs to work in a new venue. He then brought up doing the Las Vegas show, which he said was his fantasy.
Since I am a Las Vegan, I called in. I felt bad cause his producer told me like 4x not to ask him how he was doing and that was the first thing I did! It's the way I usually talk, though. I was happy our exchange was good and I hope he used my idea of modeling the Dean Martin show for his Vegas act!

The high was about 63 or so, dry and sunny, and it's 7:08pm now and it's a pleasant 52 degrees (according to Weatherbug).

We've had Indian Summer over the weekend through yesterday here in PA. The temp went to 80. It was beautiful. Right now the temp is dropping, and it's getting cold.
