URGENT: '02 Wilson bio gives wife's maiden name; '03 he claims revealing maiden name compromises her
Seattle Post-Intelligencer Editorial Board ^ | 9/30/03 (orig. 8/10/03)

Posted on 09/30/2003 11:43:53 AM PDT by Wolfstar

An August 10, 2003 Seattle Post-Intelligencer Editorial contains the following paragraph:

"In carefully discussing what he called the hypothetical possibility his wife is a CIA employee, Wilson noted that the use of her maiden name would compromise work done before their marriage five years ago." [end exerpt]

Oh, really. Well then WILSON, HIMSELF, compromised his own wife when his copyrighted 2002 biography was published with this statement: "He is married to the former Valerie Plame and has two sons and two daughters."

Please click the above link if you want to read the entire editorial (pretty vicious toward President Bush).

Wilson's biography also notes that his connection to Democrat politicians goes back at least 18 years. He worked for Al Gore and Tom Foley beginning in 1985.

Nearly every op-ed piece involving Wilson features that ending statement for his BIO - seen it on the net in lots of places.

Just do a google search on her name...

Isn't it associating her w/ the CIA that is the problem? Not just using her name?

Now that is interesting because I would imagine they filed a license etc. and had a wedding with her relatives also. In other words, this Valerie is "not a secret anything". I wonder if there is an old article in the newspaper about their wedding?

Ping - please help spread the word. Wilson is a liar who is doing everything he can to act like the outraged husband. The above proves otherwise.

Another of his lies: He also has been claiming he is non-partisan because of his diplomatic service during the GHWB administration. However, he has ties to very senior Democrats going back at least 18 years, and he's contributed to John Kerry's presidential campaign.

I know. That's not the point of this thread. The point is that WILSON is claiming the revelation of her maiden name in 2003 compromised her work. Yet his own bio revealed it in 2002.

Read the Post-Intelligencer editorial, and particularly the paragraph where Wilson claims just revealing her maiden name will compromise her work.

I wonder if there is an old article in the newspaper about their wedding?

Don't know if this means anything .. but yesterday MSNBC aired a video news clip of Mr. & Mrs. Joe Wilson greeting then President Clinton and his wife in some kind of receiving line at a former function.

Now MSNBC only aired a small clip of it and only showed the back of her blonde head .. but I wonder what the rest of the video clip shows .. like her face maybe

Cliff May, on Fox News this morning, said that before Novak's column appeared, a democrat told him who Wilson's employer was. I heard this so looked to see if he wrote it down and found it. The only thing he left out is the timing of the *dem* telling him was before Novak's item was printed.

The Corner September 30, 2003

Scroll down to Cliff May's notes:

THE WILSON SAGA: A RECAP [Cliff May] Everyone seems to accept that if the White House leaked the name and occupation of Joe Wilson's wife it was done to "smear" him. But how does that information smear Wilson?

When I learned that his wife worked for the CIA, it caused me to think better about him. In fact, one friend, a Democrat, cited his wife's occupation to me to suggest that Wilson was not as rabid a partisan as I believed (and as I had alleged in NRO).

The alternative explanation that Wilson has suggested: That his wife's name was leaked to "intimidate" him. What does that mean? That the idea was that some foreign agent might attempt to kill Mrs. Wilson?

Are reputable journalists really taking such an allegation seriously?

The point is that WILSON is claiming the revelation of her maiden name in 2003 compromised her work. Yet his own bio revealed it in 2002.

And thank you for pointing that out. The way the stories were written was confusing as "revealed the identity of Wilson's wife" could be interpreted as her maiden name and/or her employer.

I am pleased that as Wilson spins his web of deceit he is contradicting himself all over the place.

What I find stunning is the breathtaking phoniness of this guy. In the midst of his "outrage" this year over his wife's supposed "outing," he goes so far as to tell the press that revealing her maiden name will compromise her work done before their marriage "five years ago," i.e., work done prior to 1998. Yet his 2002 bio containing her maiden name is available to anyone with access to Google.

Joseph C. Wilson IV is being revealed, more and more, as a flake.

He turns out to be a whole snowstorm.

Why was he sent to Niger to track down the "yellowcake" story? And did he do a good and diligent job?

Nobody, yet, had disproved the assertion that Saddam Hussein was looking for refined uranium during the period 1992 through 2002, and while he may not have consummated the deal in Niger, this does not mean that another deal somewhere else was not being cut. Did Wilson check out all those stories too?

Because he was in Baghdad prior to Operation Desert Storm and did a commendable job he was rewarded by the State Department and confirmed by Bush with an Ambassadorship in Gabon. It was Clinton, however, who brought him into the National Security Council for a year and made him his flack in preparation for a trip to Africa.

Excuse me. I think Wilson is scum and the whole thing about his wife totally overblown. However, I think the salient revelation is taht his wife is a CIA "operative." The fact taht someone's wife's name is known is meaningless unless one is also told "His wife is a CIA operative." I think it's a slender thread to claim that it was ok to out his "wife" as though no one would ever figure out who that was. Lots of wives use their maiden names. You may say well no one knew she was using her maiden name at the CIA. Fine, but once you out someone's "wife" people can easily find out her name from many sources.

Having said that, the entire "scandal" is ridiculous. The husband is a raving leftist politico who has been giving speeches about wanting to "frog walk" white house aides out in handcuffs. His motives are obvious. as for the wife, any patriotic CIA employee would say "OK, my cover was blown by my husband's political activities, move me somewhere else." Plus she appears to be an employee more than an "operative."

I read an article today saying that one of 3 questions that had to be answered before an investigation could go further (I think on MSNBC, don't remember) is whether her name could have been found any way other than leaked classified info. The CIA answered "no". Good grief--yesterday morning a freeper was posting links to the bio at Middle Eastern Institute or Studies that plainly said he was married to the former Valerie Plame.

" Nobody, yet, had disproved the assertion that Saddam Hussein was looking for refined uranium during the period 1992 through 2002, .."

Ahh-guess you missed the final word on that. Both CNN and Chris Jansing on MSNBC both declared this am, that President Bush's statements that " Iraq had sought uranium..blah,blah'", had been "proven false". No mention of the entire sentence and context, which they conveniently deleted. No mention of British intelligence. Apparently,Joseph Wesley Clark Wilson knows more than the British intel.I still haven't gotten over Chris Jansing referring to the terrorists in Iraq, who were ambushing and killing our troops in the last few months,as "resistance fighters." I think there's a Pulitzer here somewhere for an investigative journalist-that is,if they investigate the true story and motives behind Joseph Wilson.

"Because he was in Baghdad prior to Operation Desert Storm and did a commendable job.."

Not picking a fight w/ you, but I have seen this mentioned a few times -- that G Bush Sr. appreciated his 'dedictaed service' during the Gulf War.

My complaint -- Wilson was probably one of those 'seasoned, respected' State Dept. idiots who advised against completing the Gulf War by taking care of Saddam back then.

'Oh no, world opinion and arab street urchins would rise up against us!' IMHO, he's been a useful idiot for the dark side for years and we're only now getting a glimpse at the maggots underneath the State Dept. rock.

Once again, not attacking you, just questioning the idea that this fool actually served his country's interests during the Gulf War and not his own liberal sentiments. Just my opinion.

Sorry to post and run, but that's what I'm going to do.

I think any stuff on Valerie was taken off a long time ago. In fact, I'd guess about the time Valerie SUPPOSEDLY called her hubby to tell him about his new job.

I keep thinking of M. Albright and her most recent statement that if it wasn't for Hillary, she wouldn't have gotten the job.

How about this Valerie chick?? Does she fall in that category, too??
