Bernadette Chirac, wife of French President Jacques Chirac, says she hopes Hillary Clinton (news - web sites) will one day be elected US president because she would become a trailblazer for women across the world.
Clinton "does not say it, but I think she is aiming for the White House," Chirac said in an interview with Thursday's edition of the French magazine Nouvel Observateur.
"And I want her to succeed because the day that she is elected president of the United States she will become a trailblazer for all women of the world," she said.
Madame Chirac said women needed such an example, adding she knew many who did not put themselves up even for small-scale elections.
Despite her persistent denials, speculation continues over whether the wife of the former US president Bill Clinton (news - web sites) is planning to run for the White House in 2004.

I wonder if she'll say the same thing about "trailblazing" when Condoleezza Rice takes office in Jan. 2009.

Having Hillary Clinton as US President would be a trailblazer... So would having a monkey as US President... or a snake... or a pile of cr*p... or a -- well, you get the picture.
To: presidio9
Trail blazer? No doubt!
She would employee a scorched earth policy that makes the North's burning of Dixie look like a marshmallow roast.

Like Hillary, Mdm Chirac has mistresses to contend with no doubt. I played golf this past weekend with a person who lives on the same block as Bill in Chappaqua. According to this person, Bill is having a very public affair with a 37 year-old divorced Chappaqua resident. Apparently Bill frequently spends the night at her place complete with Secret Service motorcade parked out front.

Being promoted and backed by the French is NOT a good thing in today's world. The French have been doing this for 5 Republics now. They pick the side that they think is going to win ahead of time and proceed with vigorous ass-kissing of the French variety. Too bad nobody told them that if the economy and Iraq continue to improve President Bush should win the next election easily...

I was pretty incredulous about this story, since I had not heard about it before, but according to the person who told me, it is common knowledge in Chappaqua. The residents of the town have too much class to make a big deal of it.
