I took maybe 100 in one month. 4700 pills would mean he had to average 156 pills per day (30 day period). At 20 pills he would be dead and comatose. I would take 4 in one day and sleep most of the day, so I discount this story as bunk (at the time I weighed a lot more than Rush too). You're missing two important points. First, OxyContin is typically abused in powder form because grinding the pills up into powder destroys the time releases and when snorted, gives an opiate like high (similar to heroine) that is much more intense, but much shorter in duration than the drug taken in pill form with the time releasors in tack. A typical addict might snort two to four pills or more in powder form in a single sitting, several times a day, depending upon the extent of the addiction. Second, addicts never want to be down to their last "fix" just in case the supply goes dry. As a result, they will often buy more than they need just so they always have a back-up supply on hand, particularly if money is not an issue.

In fact, significant wealth and/or power can make it far more difficult to come to grips with an inability to control an addicting substance.Yup, its the "I'm accomplishing x, y and z, so I have no substance problem" syndrome. Complete denial.

Remember, he and Bush 1 just came in second in a golf tournament. He's either off the dope or this is a setup. According to the rumor, she has him on a wire.

Good point.
Let's all tune in at 12noon today. It might be his highest ratings ever.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until I hear his side of the story.
I choose to believe that the Democrats and their shills (Katie Couric, Dan, Tom, Hollywood idiots, etc.) will do anything to smear others, to the degree that they feel their own has been smeared.
Think of how hard Bill and Hillary are laughing this morning.
In fact, time will tell, but as Rush says, when the liberal left is out of power, they go wacky crazy. Hhhhhmmmmmmmm............

He might have been experimenting with different ones and flushed a lot down the toilet in fits of remorse and paranoia. He was trying to hide his pill habit from MartaThat's pretty plausible.

Those abusing the drug give it a bad name. That is exactly the point I got after reading all those silly horror stories- the problem was with abusing the medicine in ways the doctors and makers never envisioned.
Serious medical conditions require serious medicine, and for people with a lot of pain, codeine can be a godsend.

Does anyone here seriously believe that Rush would be buying prescription drugs from his HOUSEKEEPER? I mean, the man could BUY a doctor to prescribe whatever he wanted.

OxyContin is a very good pain killer. I took it for about 3 weeks, but since I'm not prone to addictions of any type (don't ask me why, it's just my nature I guess) I threw the rest of them away. I don't visualize Rush grinding up pills in his bathroom and snorting them, nor do I see him taking dozens of pills per day. I might be wrong, but this seems like pure character assasination to me.
And I don't believe in coincedence.
1. Rush under massive attack.
2. Bush under massive attack.
3. Arnold under massive attack.
Me smells a rat and the last name is Clinton and their media friends. And a certain P.I. named Terry.

Of course he's off the dope. His dope supplier got used to the big money for scoring some damnable pills. Once Rush quit she prolly told Rush, "I want more money to shut up"
Rush said no so she went to the police after a while and then to the Enquirer to get the big payday. Enquirer will fork out at least $250,000 for such a story.

Where's all the sympathy?
Where's all the "feel your pain"?
Where's all the "lets get behind the poor victim and support him"?

"Now that it's out (I believe the core story is true, though likely Cline has exaggerated grossly), I hope Rush will handle this like the big man he is."
Exactly right. Anyone who has a brain has to think that there must be soemthing to it. However, it is also obvious that Democrat politicaloperatives are running this story and how and when it comes out.

Yaaaaawn. Next Cline and Shohat will reveal that Rush had her bring him young boys and black leather. And he dresses like a woman. And he preforms satanic rituals. And he sleeps in a coffin. And he beats the help. And...
To: dennisw
Yup. If she does have Rush on a wire, it will reaffirm why they call it "dope".

Housekeeper sounds 100% logical to me. I'm surprised she didn't blab about the famous guy she was supplying pills for.

I give Rush the presumption of innocence until he is proven guilty or he admits that this story is true.
