The French culture does not put a high premium on telling the truth. That is more of an English cultural tradition actually, not shared by most of the planet. It IS delicious though.

Actually their Protestant religion was made illegal in France, or close to it, by Louis XIV, and they choose to decamp, many to Holland. Some ultimately ended up in America. All who received them benefited, since they were largely from the nascent hard working and productive middle class in France. Rumor has it that some of my ancestors were Hugenots, but I think the rumors are false. The ancestors from Quebec turned out to be Scotch. And so it goes.

Actually, I've seen cases where if a leading or trailing space gets in the string, the d_mn computer is too dumb to realize it means nothing and won't return a match. All you can do is try. At least it happened on a thread worth posting twice.

four French-built advanced anti-aircraft missiles which were built this year .... France strongly denied having sold any such missiles to Iraq for nearly two decades, and said it was impossible that its newest missiles should turn up in Iraq. C'est imposible, eh? So we should believe that those vintage 2003 missiles actually were sold to Iraq in 1980, or else they really weren't sold at all, or maybe the Poles were confused and the "made in France" label was a forgery, or ...
