WASHINGTON - On Aug. 20, 2001, Saleh Ibn Abdul Rahman Hussayen, a man who would soon be named a minister of the Saudi government and put in charge of its two holy mosques, arrived in the United States to meet with some of this country's most influential fundamentalist Sunni Muslim leaders.

On the night of Sept. 10, 2001, Hussayen stayed at a suburban hotel that also housed three of the Saudi hijackers who would slam an aircraft into the Pentagon the next day, though there is no evidence that he had contact with them.

Anyone who believes that he was not there - specifically - to give his blessings upon the hijackers is a fool!

though there is no evidence that he had contact with them ,p> What a load of see-no-evil crap. Any reporter could have readily established whether Hussayen's stay there looked like a normal part of his itinerary or not. If the qustion was not asked, the answer is probably uncomfortable.

Anyplace with a large Muslim population will have a certain percentage of radicals. Multiculturalism is the disease, radical Islam is merely one of its symptoms.

Two years after Black Tuesday.

As one ponders the situation, it's amazing how well the coverup of Saudi involvement and support for the Attacks on America have been COVEREDUP.

Great Job.

Yes, I agree.

For some reason the Saudi connection to 9/11 has never been adequately or publicly addressed. I hope there is good reason for this and that it is a temporary condition.

If it's not, its implication is dire.

The hijackers were treated like KINGS by the Nation of Islam before 9/11. They were put up in nice condos or houses or apartments and were brought gourment food and great delicacies by their admirers (e.g. members of the Muslim community who continue to live among us and plan our destruction and death). Sometimes they ate these catered meals in bed - like the Kings and Princes of Islam that they became to be known (e.g. martyrs to be modeled and worshipped for their faithfulness to the religion of evil and death).

Nancy Luque, attorney for two top officials of the defunct SAAR network, confirmed that a Saleh Hussayen had served as a SAAR director, but suggested that her clients did not know of his importance in Saudi Arabia.

Yeah, right.

I sure hope no one buys this, this is like Hillery! Clinton

I have to admit, more and more people who I talk with "on the street" that I would classify as apolitical will, in passing, mention and acknowledge Saudi involvement in terrorism directed aginst the U.S, and will mirror Israeli problems with Islamic terrorism as well. We just have to keep banging on this from "inside the community," because the truth is getting out there, slowly but surely.

I was under the impression that instigating a big US/SA conflict was one of the main reasons why Bin Laden selected so many Saudis for the 9/11 mission. Originally it mostly Egyptians iirc.

What's to worry? President Bush rattles on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on that "Islam is a religion of piece."

Crapola !!! Islam is a devilish cult of pieces -- fingers, hands, toes, feet, arms, legs, eyes, ears, noses, heads, and off and off and off and off and off and off and off . . . !!!

"I agree, but would really like to know what our government is doing about? After all if the avg Joe has figured this out, I'm sure the government has."

From everything I've read, on Free Republic alone, since 9/11?

Iraq alone would fill pages.

Oil still continues to be the central issue. I remember one commentary by one of the national syndicated pundits mentioning how America now "has their hand on the spigot of Iraqi oil production" in regard to countering the Saudi stranglehold on our oil supply, in a bid to coerce the Saudis to stop the spread of Wahabbi inspired militant Islam directed against the US. It'll be sometime before we see if that works.

Bush's pushing the "road map" on Israel in a bid to placate and "reward" the "moderate" Muslim states for not interfering in the Iraqi war, another bid to undermine the justification of Islamic extremists in Saudi Arabia which area threat to the status quo in that country.

Bush's recess appointment of Prof. Daniel Pipes to the USIP (his bid to undermine militant Islam from the inside by pushing the moderates in the Arabic social arenas) is another aspect of the Bush tack, dealing with the Saudis.

Our government is doing a lot, but surely not enough to interrupt the flow of oil, upset the balance of power in Saudi Arabia, or destabilize the region any further.

Do a lot of people disagree with some current policies of the Bush Administration in the Middle East, especially concerning Saudi Arabia and their sponsership of global terrorism? Sure. But like I have said before, Bush is under a lot of pressure from myriad forces and competing groups in the domestic/international arena, most discussed in great detail every day here at FR. The Saudis are just one small aspect of a huge overall picture in the war that hopefully Bush has the skill and continued support to execute successfully.

I've been watching it pretty closely since 9/11 and it continues to be a huge pea-soup of a rat's nest to me. I still think Bush was the right man at the right time in the middle of this.

This failure to confront and call the Saudis for what they are is debilitating to the country, the world, and the WoT.
