Heard a news item today saying that Holden is about to make an "important announcement" concerning CCW shortly. Will he bow to the Missouri Democrat Left he needs to beat a possible primary challenge by the popular (to Democrats) Claire McCaskill by attempting to court challenge CCW, or will he now announce that he favors CCW? More likely the former than the latter, but you never know.

Back around 1990, the small Indiana town of Petersburg had their town's water treatment plant inundated in a flood, and the National Guard was called out to provide drinking water until the plant could be restored to operation. A week after the Guardsmen had been deployed, a tornado hit the town, ripped apart the business district and totalled an elementry school [thankfully unoccupied at the time] and several churches, as well as dozens, hundreds of homes.

I got there about 2 hours after it had hit; most emergency vehicles couldn't move because of the roofing tiles that had been ripped off of roofs, about half landed in the streets with the nails pointing up. There were cop cars and ambulances with 4 flat tires everywhere. I was in a railroad hi-rail truck that travelled on steel wheels and didn't have that problem, and we at least had clear tracks right up to the edge of town, where a Dairy Queen was picked up and dropped across the tracks.

Not surprisingly, the Guard's equipment had pretty well had it, though some trucks and gear they'd sent home for light repairs or for weekend shuttle duty survived. But their water plant and *water buffalo* trailers were out of business.

The next day about noon, the first Budweiser semitrailer from St Louis, 200 miles away pulled in, loaded to the roof with six-packs of water canned in unlabeled Budweiser white cans, followed by another truck, and another, and another. Water ceased to be our problem on the house-to-house search and rescue crews. The next time they came back, they were carrying banannas. They beat the emergency response vehicles from the Red Cross, and the Latter-Day Saints, and the Baptists, though not by much.

It could not have been a prettier sight if those trailers had been pulled by Clydesdales. And afterward, I don't have to tell you what every rescue team member, every cop and fireman, every equipment operator and railroader was drinking.

And I still do. This Bud's for them.

I'm no expert on Missouri politics, but it looks like the makers of Budwieser have slapped Gov. Bob Holden pretty hard for his anti-gun position.

You know what to do, boys and girls... just be sure to pick up all the empties when you are done.

I believe I'll wait until I hear what John Ross has to say about it. But it looks good.

I'll not consider Bud's move as anything near overwhelming support for our cause, but I'll settle for their lessening any enthusiastic backing of our adversaries.

We'll see.

Ford, you ARE correct about Schnucks. However, Anheuser-Busch WAS a supporter of Proposition B, the proposition to allow concealed carry of weapons which was voted on in Missouri in April of 1999.

Please go to this link to see it yourself, or read the statement, which I copied and pasted, below:

http://www.moccw.org/ab.html

Statement of Anheuser-Busch’s Position on Missouri Proposition B Attributed to Stephen K. Lambright, Vice President and Group Executive

"Anheuser-Busch has always supported individual freedoms and the constitutional rights of all Americans. This company has a long tradition of promoting responsible firearms ownership as well as shooting sports.

This April 6th, Missourians will decide if they want the right to carry concealed for personal protection. The Missouri General Assembly debated "Right-to-Carry" for six years before passing legislation for the citizens to vote on. The proposition has the necessary and prudent restrictions included as a result of that debate.

Therefore, Anheuser-Busch supports Proposition B and Missourians’ constitutional right of self-protection."

I'm not in favor of their pandering advertisements to gays. but we do need to set the record straight as it relates to A-B's support of second amendment rights.
