voting for a candidate who cannot win is not helpful...except to the opposition. Can't win? I guess you missed this part of the above article: "recent Gallup poll demonstrates when McClintock is pitted against just Bustamante, among probable voters the Republican state senator beats the Democratic candidate handily -- by 19 percentage points.
If the Rino Arnold stayed home like he should've, or if he drops out now, McClintock becomes the Governor of CA.

"CA just sat and said nothing while the sitting Governor banned handguns"
Davis just signed a bill that requires a magazine safety, which effectively bans many handguns. The silence has been deafning.
I'll have to buy one of the S&W 1911s before the law takes effect I guess. :-)

It ain't half a loaf, it's about 5%. It isn't worth it. Yes. Better to have Cruz BustaMECHA or Gray Davis than that 5%. Continue the GOP's strategy of losing on principle.
As for your "masticate feces" suggestion, I'll leave that to McClintock and his supporters on October 8th. I'm sure that McClintbots will fade back into the crevices of cyberspace, just like the Brigadiers did post-Nov. 2000...probably a remarkable overlap in membership between the two groups.

There is a time and a place for this sort of logic -- I've used it myself on more than one occasion. But, as it happens, the choice between Arnold and Tom isn't one of them.
David's right: Cruz or Davis would be better than Arnold on the right to bear arms, which would be fine if there was some room to give on this issue in California. There isn't. Since you may not have the details, let me help:
It is currently illegal for a California resident to purchase an AR-15 variant of any kind.
The governor just signed a bill that will ban virtually all handguns currently offered for sale in this country.
The state legislature, for the past two years, has passed a bill through both houses to ban .50 BMG rifles. Tom will veto this, Arnold will sign it.
The state legislature, for the past two years, has passed legilsation to apply a tax ( 10 cents) on each round of ammunition sold in the state. Next year, Arnold will sign it, while Tom would veto.
With all due respect, you, not the McClintock camp are not "grasping the simple concept": we are up against the wall here. There is no half loaf to settle for. And this isn't some fringe issue, rather, it is central to the maintenance of a free society. Read David's article again, carefully, and you might get an inkling of just how serious the situation is here.

Yeah, I just read a review of S&W's new 1911 in Guns and Ammo a few weeks ago. .....Looks impressive. But I'm looking to get the new Colt-Gunsite 1911.

Alas, the candidate leading in the polls isn't going to drop out so that an ideological whore to the Indian gambling interests can pick up the mantle and lose tomorrow.

sitting Governor banned handguns That's going to be a big surprise to my buddies who sell guns. Their stores are loaded w/handguns.
Maybe she's talking about the safety tests. I had a devil of a time locating a couple of handguns that weren't on the list. Had to wait until private individuals sold on consignment. Now, the guns are so valuable, I'm afraid to shoot them.
To: Young Rhino
the candidate leading in the polls We'll see how long that lasts.

"But I'm looking to get the new Colt-Gunsite 1911."
I'll have to check it out. I haven't had a 1911 since I got rid of my Colt Gold Cup 20 years ago (big regret). I was hoping to get a CZ .223 Varmint with the H-S stock and either a Browning Citori Lightning 20ga or a Beretta Silver Hawk 20ga SxS first.
This last handgun bill just knocks the hell out of our choices. We're on our way to becoming Mass.

Yes. Better to have Cruz BustaMECHA or Gray Davis than that 5%. Continue the GOP's strategy of losing on principle. More stupid fear mongering. If the party of principle had ignored Arnold instead of being paralyzed in fear he'd be history. Bustamante is history. You've got nothing but a bubble going son.
I'm sure that McClintbots will fade back into the crevices of cyberspace, just like the Brigadiers did post-Nov. 2000...probably a remarkable overlap in membership between the two groups.
Oh we'll be back to clean up your mess, because you see, the policies won't change that much and you have no ideas to sell. That means the fiscal disaster will worsen and you'll have no base to do the legwork. You can't get away from that because it's economic and political reality.

I guess that you didn't read the article or my reply and you only think that you read the Bible.
The article says that Tom CAN win. I didn't say that I would not vote. The Bible never sez that God helps those that help themselves.

Was that Jimmy Stewart in Shenandoah?

Certain handguns are indeed banned in CA, but you made the ignorant and sweeping statement that the sitting CA Gov "banned handguns."

For gun owners Arnold is the opposition.

Oh you are so right.
I'll amend.... The sitting governor banned all handguns that are currently made. He did still leave legal some non-existant handguns that hopefully, someone will invent and manufacture in the future.
I'll return you to your regularly scheduled nap.

Maybe Young Rhino thinks that saddling California with Arnold will continue to force our business to Texas.
On that he'd be right.

Think about this. Hispanics are heavily represented at the ranges and on the hunting fields, yet something like 85% of the Hispanic vote went to Davis in the last election. We are failing to get Hispanic support through the NRA or Republican Party for pro-gun policies and candidates. Isn't the party wise to pander to the disgrutled Democrat majority on economic grounds?
It is the first job of the party to elect Republican candidates.
To: LaraCroft
The sitting governor banned all handguns that are currently made. Wrong again; You seem to make a habit of it. (Your reputation precedes you, unfortunately). Tell you what, why don't you call any gun dealer in CA tomorrow and ask them if any new "currently made" handguns are available for purchase. Of course, I don't expect you to apologize when you're proven wrong.....yet again.
