WASHINGTON - While President Clinton was trying to broker an elusive peace between Israelis and Palestinians, the FBI was secretly funneling money to suspected Hamas figures to see if the militant group would use it for terrorist attacks, according to interviews and court documents. If that ain't the stupidest thing I've ever heard of.
The counterterrorism operation in 1998 and 1999 was run out of the FBI's Phoenix office in cooperation with Israeli intelligence and was approved by Attorney General Janet Reno, FBI officials told The Associated Press.
I guess it wasn't enough for Janet Reno to be responsible for the deaths of Branch Davidian children, she had to get the blood of some Israelis on her shaky-assed hands as well. If this doesn't EPITOMIZE the foreign policy IDIOCY of the Clinton Administration, I don't know what does...

I would like to take a moment to ask for donations.
It should be clear to all conservatives by now that the left intends to demonize us. They don't just disagree with us, they hate us. And worse, they want to get other people to hate us.
Places like Free Republic drive the left batty.
Please donate. Thanks for your consideration.

So I presume the press will now demand an investigation into who leaked Harry Ellen's name?
One would think he has far more to fear for his safety now then Plame does...

Ellen testified the operation ended abruptly in early 1999 when he and Williams had a series of disagreements over the operation, disputes that began when Ellen angered the FBI by having an affair with a Chinese woman suspected of espionage.
Worlds are colliding, Jerry! Worlds are colliding!

Look at this.......and thanks for the heads up in finding this story.
Ellen testified that Williams told him he hoped the transfer would lead to more money exchanges through terror groups but Ellen refused to earmark money for terrorism. He testified he later learned another FBI operative had offered Hamas and Palestinian figures larger amounts for terrorist attacks
Unfreaking real!!

I didn't know the Hamas' accountants provided GL reports back to the FBI. How accommodating of them. /sarcasm

Circles within circles......Whew!

the FBI was secretly funneling money to suspected Hamas figures to see if the militant group would use it for terrorist attacks,I wish they would funnel some money to me to see if I will use it to pay bills.
At least they didn't funnel it to Charles Manson to see if it would commit more mass murder. Which is different, how?
