"Poor Tom. He'll be crying in his beer in another hour. "

===

I think you are wrong. In an hour he will declare himself governor, because "if the plurality of the people would have voted for him, as their conscience were telling them, he would be governor". Just watch his speech. ;)

I am convinced that this hold out by TM was some kind of strategery.

Yes. As I posted last week:

By staying in the race, McClintock balanced the opposition; two Republicans against two Democrats. In the battle between Liberals and Conservatives, Tom is the Conservative and Davis/Bustamente are the Liberals. This allowed Arnold to claim the vast middle ground where most of the votes are, IMO, and may have allowed a GOP win next Tuesday.

I invite McClintock and his supporter to join the winning party and bury the hatchet.

make sure you don't turn your back to them, they might oblige that second part in ways you do not intend...

You've lost most of us, but, as many of you liberals have said, we are not needed any more, therefore, we will join the Constitution party and get a real difference instead of me-tooism.

good bye...

Sorry, but 'crybaby' is not the definition of a conservative.

"I suppose it is safe to say that you and the rest of the McClinties will be joining the dems in signing an Arnold recall petition."

Not At All!! You people are masters of insults.

I'm so tired of the "vote their conscience" line. The truth is that if the majority of Californians voted their conscience, a Republican could not get elected.

Have people forgotten that this state is as Democrat as it gets????

It takes someone like Arnie that can transcend the political parties to oust a Democrat. Let's get real and let's get happy. Who could have ever imagined this when Davis was reelected by the morons here.?

He believes the people of California will vote their consciences, resulting in a victory for him.

That's another thing I like about Tom - - he doesn't seem to have a cynical bone in his body. Against all indications that California is nothing more than a toilet full of Republican surrender monkeys and celebrity worshipping nincompoops, Tom still believes that there are enough honorable Californians left to elect him governor.

California doesn't deserve you, Tom.
Get out of that place and go somewhere where there is hope.

I believe that there are great future opportunities for McClintock if he can resist the temptation to make himself appear ridiculous in the waning hours of this campaign. There is nothing to be gained here by eleventh hour pronouncements. He should avoid the temptation to appear wounded and persecuted as it will gain nothing for him. He must appear supportive of the winner in order to preserve his viability for a future candidacy, that future candidacy perhaps being at the national level.

Poet..... you wouldn't happen to have any links to where 'tock has indicated he was gonna jump ship and swim over to the Constitooooooshun party, do you?

Again how many would it take to make a 'real difference'?

Why is it that McClintock insists that if you don't vote for him, you're not voting your conscience?

The majority of FReepers voting for Arnold were being pragmatic. I can respect that. However, there are a minority of them who actually prefer Arnold on the issues. That saddens me. Greatly.

But it's THEIR conscience, isn't it?

It's THEIR principles, isn't it?

What give you OR McClintock the right to set the bar on what is wrong and right for everybody?

You know... I kept thinking that seriously. For someone who keeps saying that he is the only one with a grasp of what needs to be done and how to do it, he doesn't seem to have a very good grasp of these numbers, and I'm suppose to believe him about the other ones?

He is lying when he says he will repeal the car tax tripling by noon... if he was so smart and savy, seems like he'd know he can't do that.

What if he is just as delusional regarding the budget?
