I can tell you (if anyone is interested) that I gave my mother in law, who suffered from terrible sciatic pain, a major massage, with St. John's Wort oil and warmed almond oil, and I really worked her whole lower body.

Given the new 6-foot no-touch zone law we have here in California for strip-clubs, your massage may soon become illegal.

"hey, someone said the rehab success rate for 30 days is 30%. What I said is true, like it or not."

Actually, on an individual basis it is zero percent for some folks, and 100 percent for others. IOW you either get it, or you don't.

pompous arrogant radio windbag
Well, I guess that clears that up! You heard Rush call himself "All seeing, all knowing", you heard him call himself "the Doctor of Democracy and America's Truth Detector", you heard him say, "with talent on loan from God", and you concluded from that that Rush was conceited!

What arrant nonsense! That whole shtick is a parody!

It refers to the conceit that journalism is objective. No one is objective, and that is the point.

"You're no fun at all!"

Awww, come on. I had HUGE fun informing Dane about Clinton's huge contributions toward draconian marijuana legislation ;) Don't tell me I'm the only one who had fun with that!

Alot of speculation going on.

Limbaugh Gets Hopeful Prognosis
By Steve Carney, Los Angeles Times
Thanks to experimental drugs and cutting-edge technology, Rush Limbaugh will likely not go deaf and will continue to host his talk-radio program, his doctors and a spokesman for his show said Thursday.

At the House Ear Clinic and Institute in Los Angeles, the specialists treating Limbaugh for the sudden and profound hearing loss he announced Monday explained the cause and treatment of his deafness, a rare condition called auto-immune inner ear disease, or AIED.

"It's something akin to arthritis of the inner ear," an inflammation that occurs in only about 1% of patients losing their hearing, said Dr. Jennifer Derebery, one of the House Institute specialists treating Limbaugh. Limbaugh broadcasts his show from New York and his home in Florida, but is being treated in L.A.

The doctors believe Limbaugh's own immune system is attacking the fine hairs in the inner ear that convert vibrations to electrical impulses, which the brain then deciphers as sounds. They're treating the problem with the same drugs used to treat rheumatoid arthritis or cancer.

"This is an active area of investigation right now," said Dr. Michael Weisman, director of the rheumatology department at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. Researchers there and at the House Institute "are participating in a very large government-funded trial of medications for this disease. So your tax dollars are funding our efforts to be able to find out what causes this problem and how to treat it."

Limbaugh is not part of that trial, which was already in progress, but his doctors are using the medications being tested to treat his condition. They include prednisone, a powerful steroid, and methotrexate, a chemotherapy drug. Limbaugh announced on his show Monday that he first noticed his hearing loss May 29, and that it has worsened rapidly since then, to the point where he's deaf in his left ear, and has only 20% of his hearing remaining in his right.

I finally heard a caller on the Howie Carr show today confirmation of this which I have asked about before.
One of the times I have listened to Rush he was talking about a (60 minutes?) piece on Oxycontin and talking to callers who were legitimately on the drug.
Anyone else hear this call? I am just curious when it was. Since I usually listen in the car I can narrow it down to the past few years based on where I was. But it sounded like he had never heard of the drug. Was he putting us on?
Was he shopping around for a new drug? On the air?
Does anyone else remember the show where Rush did an hour about Oxycintin?

I DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER SAYS.

I take everything the Enquirer says with a huge grain of salt. They have been right in the past, though, and to no little acclaim here on FR. Look up any of the threads dealing with Jesse Jackson's "love child", for example.

Are you really going to go down this road?

???? You said Rush advocated the jailing of addicts. I asked when. A simple question.

Are you honestly going to try and convince people that Rush was a libertarian, anti-WOD commentator?

He was not a libertarian. Neither am I. I have very mixed feelings on WOD. Drug abuse is bad. It's something we want to discourage. I'm not sure what is the best way. I am sure that marketing incentive to encourage drug use must be discouraged.

I agree with the rest of your post, but I had to address this common misconception:

As for "all those inner city addicts who are rotting in our jails", I pity them for their addictions, but not the non-drug related crimes that landed them in jail.

There are many people in prison for use *alone.*

FReepmail me if you want a link.

It certainly looks like the pharmaceutical industry is trying to hook as many as it can, knowing that these people will have to go to illegal drugs when they are cut off.

You have a point.

Uh, he admitted it when he got CAUGHT ! This isn't some teary-eyed first timer admitting the error of this ways. This is a HYPOCRITE who owes all his fellow dopers an apology !

You've got that right.

The Rushies are twisting themselves into pretzels trying to salvage their image of their hero.

No one has to twist into a pretzel WackyKat!

1 Cor. 13
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

WackyKat you seem to revel in anothers pain!

People who listen to Rush don't put him on a pedestal, they are appreciative for how he uses his talent and continues to endur to be one of the bulwark of this nation!

So he got a challenge ahead those of us who are greatful for his service will keep him in our prayers that he will be able to get this monkey off of his back.

Alcohol prohibition was one of them.

Prohibition was a reaction to a problem. It was not a good thing but before you go on a crusade to abolish all drug laws you ought to consider the motivation for the 18th Amendment.

It was an amendment to the Constitution, remember, --two-thirds both houses, three-quarters of the several states -- not just a simple law.
