Too bad we can't get a similar boycott of the entire liberal media.

As to the number of cancellers: I suppose that the LA Times has no obligation to give a precise figure.

Actually, they do. Their circulation is audited by an independent organization, as are the circulations of almost all daily newspapers; otherwise, nobody would believe the paper's ad salesmen when they claim "Buy an ad with us and it'll reach one million people!" Those audited figures are released once every six months, so we will eventually get exact numbers on just how much their puke smear campaign has cost them.

(Depending on how the LA Times delivers its mail subscriptions, they may also be required by law to file legitimate circulation numbers with the Postal Service once per year, just like magazines do.)

Good point -- but I repeat that I wish I could get the figures for "cancellations occurring in the first half of October" for LAST year, versus THIS year. You KNOW the Times has such data. And we may never see it, unless the paper gets realllly introspective (and reports its introspection).

The Orange County Register is much more fair in their coverage of news. I don't think they tilt right as much as they DON'T TILT LEFT!

Goldstein said the newspaper's policy of fair, balanced and independent coverage will boost the paper's image

most people call that hypocrisy.

So how does the LA Times explain their Columnist making direct financial campaign contributions to one of the current Democratic Party Presidential candidates?

...As "fair and balanced"?!

Yeah, you're right on that; we're probably never going to find out exactly how many people canceled purely due to the Arnold smear, unless someone leaks the numbers. The audited circulation figures will be a pretty good ballpark figure, though. LA's a one-paper town, so if the Times's numbers take a big dive compared to those of other major American newspapers, there's not going to be able to blame much of it on "competition" or "the economy" or anything like that.

I've noted on other threads that there's been anecdotal evidence that the number of cancelations has been far more than just 1,000, and may even be as high as 50,000. (That would be a full 5% of their circulation.) I sure hope it's closer to the latter.

Columnists don't have to be fair. Start running the names of their reporters through opensecrets.org, and see if anything pops up. THAT would be scandalous.

Is Scheer and "editorial" writer or a columnist? If you write editorials then you can have opinions.

A columnist writes opinions. It's when reporters are bias that we need to worry.

the whole thing that isn't being talked about here is that the LA TIMES did just as much reporting against the Valley succession movement....all the promises have not been kept, and parts of the Valley are war zones that rival the crime rates of the inner city.

City Hall even exported homeless from downtown to Van Nuys, causing all kinds of friction with the Valley homeless people.

I will NOT renew my subscription, even after receiving a special letter from them yesterday "explaining" why they waited so long to publish the story. The letter is bogus, my husband and I want to keep it as recall suvineers.
