Joe Wilson outed his own wife. George Tenet is ultimately responsible for allowing Wilson to get the assignment.

Anybody try a historical reference to Mrs. Wilson's "cover" at the CIA prior to the year 1999? You might be surprised.

The liberal media probably did more damage (if there really is any) by blasting her name and the issue all over the front pages of their yellow rags for as long as they did.

The Wilson case does raise another question: What fool at CIA sent a liberal Democrat Bush-basher on such an assignment? Wilson had made his bias against the President known. As a reward for his smearing of the President, Wilson is scheduled to receive the Ron Ridenhour Award on October 15. The award is given by the Nation Institute, which publishes The Nation magazine, one of the few publications of the loony left that continues after the collapse of the Soviet UnionThis is the real scandal!

Wilson's WIFE sent ole Joe

Sending Wilson to Niger to drink tea for nine days tells me everything I need to know about the current state of the US intelligence apparatus.

Wilson listed his wife's maiden name in the biography he put on the web site of the Middle East Institute. The wife used her married name in a 1999 contribution to Kerry, she also listed her supposed CIA cover company as her place of employment. All such contributions are posted on the Internet for the world to access.

The "company" she worked for, "Brewster-Jennings and Associates" apparently didn't exist, although I have seen bloggers claim that it shows up on Dunn & Bradstreet. Which I can access but would need to do from my office.

Which I can access but would need to do from my office. That wouldn't necessarily help. There may be a current D&B record for the company, and D&B carries a year started field. However, that field is derived from a survey the company fills out, and could easily be bogus. The only way to be sure would be to get some old pre-1999 D&B data and see if the company is present in that data - something probably impossible to do, as about the only place the old data would be present would be on an old tape that someone had never scratched or thrown out, or on an old Imarket CD or Million Dollar Disk CD that is still lying around.

I read that initially the donation to Kerry's campaign was $2,000 and since the legal personal limit is $1,000 Wilson put half of it in his wife's maiden name. She supposedly didn't know he did this. Nice marriage, eh?

If all the CIA does when setting up "front" companies is list them in Dun & Bradstreet, that's interesting.
I know it's hard to set up an actual "shell" corporation -- you can learn a LOT from corporate filings, which are public records.
It would probably be easier to set up a "shell" partnership or sole proprietorship, because those don't show up in public records, at least not here in Virginia.
But if you have a street address, then you'll need an occupancy permit. Etc.
Maybe hard to suss out from overseas, but not at all hard to do here, especially now with the Internet.

If all the CIA does when setting up "front" companies is list them in Dun & Bradstreet, that's interesting. You would need to do a lot more than that. You'd need to set up phone lines, office supply accounts and create a credit history. Open a checking account. Get a TIN number (concocted, of course). Set up your workman's comp. Etc, etc., etc. - because if you don't, some state agency may come across you and wonder what's going on.
I know it's hard to set up an actual "shell" corporation -- you can learn a LOT from corporate filings, which are public records.
You can still have those dead-end - remember, in the end, the ultimate arbiter of authenticity for identity is the SSN/TIN - and the governmen controls those systems. I imagine those systems have a backdoor for spook work.
But if you have a street address, then you'll need an occupancy permit. Etc. But if you have a street address, then you'll need an occupancy permit. Etc.
Only if you own the property. If you rent it, that's another story.

Who woulda guessed that hubby is the culprit? This episode like Enron and Global Crossing debacles will die a quick death.

When Wilson wrote an op-ed in The New York Times in July and revealed that he had gone to Niger on a CIA assignment, ... Wilson violated Federal law by outing HIMSELF as having worked for the CIA.

As for Wilson himself, he has stated that he had a business relationship either with the Rock Creek Foundation, the Rock Creek Institute or the Rock Creek Company. Take your choice. He doesn't seem to have really worked with any of the three.
