Exclamation because Rush is just a talk show host. Rush was not caught with any drugs or caught in a deal. Rush "Talks". Rush gives me a view that I don't hear on the ABC's/ Rush has been involved/addicted. Will they (narcs) have what it takes to convict? Was the recording legal? Was the recorded deal legal? Drug dealers are worse than drug users. Dealers will get from the user and then TRY to get more thru blackmail. Rush did what he had to do...He is suffering, but the drugs started legally. When these doctors cannot support prescription writing, they tell their patients that they cannot write another prescription.

"But if you're pissed off about all the people in jail for drug crimes, then you can't also jab Rush for breaking the law."

Why not?

My criticism of Rush, is that he put himself above the laws he wants imposed on others.

I don't see myself as jabbing at Rush, so much as responding to the arguments of those who want to make excuses for him.

"That we have no plan in Iraq, that nothing is going well."

Cites?

"I could go on and on with the liberal media promoting the fact that we should not have gone into Iraq . . ."

"We should not have gone into Iraq" is an opinion, not a fact. It is not a lie for someone to have an opinion different from yours.

"that there were no WMD . . ."

Defenders of the war have been playing word games with statements like this, in which "were" is ambiguous as to time. No one disputes that Iraq once had chem and bio weapons. Many of them were destroyed after Gulf War 1, and there's no hard evidence the Iraqis have had any since that time. I think it is unlikely Saddam had such weapons at the time of the invasion, since he didn't use them and none were captured.

Of course it has not been conclusively proven that there are no exotic weapons hidden somewhere in Iraq. I don't see how such a negative could be proven. Who has claimed otherwise?

It would help if you would be specific. What exactly is the lie, and who told it?

"that the war is going badly."

Again a matter of opinion.

"It all comes down to - would it have been a wise decision to leave Saddam in power and do nothing? Or, would we be merely negligent in ignoring the facts that America is in danger. Frankly, I prefer a president that will insure we are safe instead of guessing and hoping we are safe."

More opinions, not relevant to your claim that Democrats are lying about Iraq.

I am totally against the War On Drugs. I think it's madness.

However, I don't wish prison on Rush. I hope he comes out of this with a less simplistic view of drugs, but to hope that he goes to prison?

There's been some libertarian discussion of this at

http://www.reason.com/hitandrun/week_2003_10_05.shtml

Scroll down to "Rushing to Rehab".

Whether Rush goes to prison or not, I would like for the drug warriors to imagine it happening, and think about whether the alleged benefits of prohibition are worth the human cost.

Why stop there? Why not hope that while he's in prison, he gets gang raped and gets AIDS? Better yet, why not execute Rush, his wife and his step children en masse like the Romanovs? Or kill Rush and Marta and then hang them by their heels, like Mussolini and his girlfriend?

These are pointless ravings. I don't wish on Rush any more than he has advocated for others.

"Drug dealers are worse than drug users."

Tommy Chong wasn't convicted of dealing drugs. He was sentenced to serve 9 months and pay over $100,000 for selling "paraphernalia".

Yes, I know that the Feds were after him for years and the bong thing was the only offence that they could find to convict. It's crazy. The laws are crazy.

Democrats are lying. Why was it necessary for President Bush to circumvent the media "filters" and go to local news outlets to get the message of what is going on in Iraq out?

I would consider Kennedy's statement about Bush lying to the American people a definite lie/opinion or whatever. Its purpose is to discredit Bush and to regain Democrat power.

I would consider all the junk about Cheney and Halliburton, Bush and his friends oil interests, the spin about no weapons found - justification for Iraq was fooling the American people as lies, propaganda and spin to discredit Bush and try and gain traction for the Democrat party's desperate attempt to regain power.

You can spin, deny all you want but I see this stuff every day all day and it is obvious that Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, the major networks, the Democrats are doing all in their power to downplay the masterful war effort that freed Iraq, to destroy the extremely high ratings that Bush held and to grab some chance of regaining their power. They cannot afford to show the positive efforts and gains in Iraq.

It is ridiculous and very destructive to America and its standing in the world. When foreigners read of these attacks - of course they discredit the leadership of Bush and think America is up to imperialistic goals. After all the media says so. "Bush went into Iraq based on false info to the American people to get the oil and contracts for his friends. Cheney is pulling the strings for Halliburton."

The democrats are putting party and the power grab above the lives of our soldiers, the safety and defense of America and have thrown their lot in with the America-haters worldwide and in fact are feeding that impression.

No president should have to fight a war, fight his own American press and members of government as he takes on the world, the terrorists and the defense of America. A little help might be nice.

This display by the democrats has made me totally disrespect all of them. I would never trust my country with people that by their actions prove they would not take action against terrorists, they would not protect America until all the U.N. was in agreement, they would subvert America's power to get all to "like us" in the world, they would promote the killing of the unborn, promote removing God from any form of public space, ruin our education system by dumbing it down and removing any form of ethics and morality training replacing it with acceptance of immorality, new age views, and indoctrination of any manner of new relativism ideals. On top of this, they would continually tax, tax, tax rather than ever change their spending behavior. Their goal is to redistribute the wealth in America and by distributing this wealth, buy votes to hold on to power.

Now, try and convince me that what I see daily in the press, the media and the democrats does promote safety of Americans in our land, promotes support of our war efforts against terrorism, upholds the values of American life, and upholds American values to the world.

By the way, I haven't heard specific claims of Bush's evildoings. I hear misrepresentations, mistakes, misinterpretations repeated continually to change the perception of what actually happened. A lie (mistake) repeated often enough reaches many people and they believe the lie is the truth.

Case in point - "constitional separation of church and state". This is not a fact - the constitution does not mention separation of church and state.

Case in point - "Bush stole the election". Gore attempted time after time to manipulate the vote counting to bring about a win. He wanted only certain areas to be recounted to further his numbers. Not all areas - only certain areas and he wanted votes counted that were thrown out in all other areas. Bush had to take it to the Supreme Court because the Florida Supreme Court changed the rules in the middle of an election to favor Gore. No candidate would allow an election to be stolen by such tactics.
