Valerie Plame Outed as CIA Agent Long Before Novak Column (by Aldrich Ames to the Russians)

Valerie Plame, wife of Leakgate accuser Joseph Wilson, was outed as a CIA agent at least nine years before conservative columnist Robert Novak supposedly blew her cover three months ago in his column.
"The C.I.A. suspected that Aldrich Ames had given Mrs. Wilson's name (along with those of other spies) to the Russians before his espionage arrest in 1994," revealed the New York Times on Saturday.
In a column revealing the critical information for the first time since the Leakgate scandal exploded two weeks ago, Times columnist Nicholas Kristof explained that the Ames tip compromised Valerie Plame's undercover secrecy so thoroughly that "she was brought back to Washington for safety reasons."
At the time, he noted, Mrs. Wilson "was already in transition away from undercover work to management, and to liaison roles with other intelligence agencies. So this year, even before she was outed, she was moving away from 'noc' -- which means non-official cover."
What's more, said the Times writer, Mrs. Wilson's intelligence connections became known a bit in Washington as she rose in the C.I.A. - an assessment that stands in marked contrast to Mr. Wilson's portrayed of his wife's identity as being so secret that she was endangered when Novak revealed her name.
"All in all, I think the Democrats are engaging in hyperbole when they describe the White House as having put Mrs. Wilson's life in danger and destroyed her career; her days skulking along the back alleys of cities like Beirut and Algiers were already mostly over."

Something I pointed out in another post.
Everyone in the government-intelligence world knew who Plame-Wilson was, except the American People.

Right -- a tall blonde skulking around the back alleys of Muslim land. Great undercover, and pure fiction.
Trouble is, there hasn't been any CIA agents skulking around alleys for many years -- they might get dirty.
Beware of the Rosenberg-Wilsons.
Now exactly where do the Russians fit in?
Now Putin made some really strange comments at that press conference with President Bush. Who they were to I don't know, but to whom ever they were, he was telling them, "the gig is up" President Bush know what we've been up to.
I can only read between the lines as to what really is going on but Mr. Wilson and his own words removed all his credibility that he is on the up and up.
This whole saga is far more and much deeper than Novak's few words.
So "WHO" sent Mr. Wilson to Africa?
It's truly a shame that the sitting President is so limited in changing the make-up of the agencies charged with supporting the leadership.
The Clintons packed the various agencies with hard-core Socialists during their 8 years, like FDR did. It will take years and years to get rid of these would-be Commies!

I guess it's too much for the Dems and the chattering class to apologize to President Bush for their accusations against him and his administration? Oh,I think I'm forgetting something. Only Republicans apologize.Democrats don't. How silly of me?!
Why is there such concern about somebody doing exactly what Senator Frank Church (Dem-Idaho) did a quarter of a century ago? Church revealed the names of scores of CIA agents and operatives.

It's becoming clear that Wilson is just another puffed up, leftist girly boy.
He and the democrat leadership got more puffed up over this non-event -- than they did over 9-11....
It's clear the democrats view Bush and Republicans as the greater enemy they face.....

Kristoff and Newsmax should read FR--if they had, they would have known this 11 days ago!!
For example, see this thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/992557/posts?q=1&&page=101
My post from that thread (only one of several, including posts by jwalsh07 and aristeides, discussing the relevant statute) is as follows:
"To: jwalsh07; aristeides
"A story in USA Today, posted on 10/1 at 12:38 a.m(http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2003-09-30-couple_x.htm), contains the following information about Plame:
"'Much less is known about Plame, Wilson's wife, for obvious reasons, given the secretive nature of her occupation...
"'A former intelligence official, speaking on condition of anonymity, says Plame worked under non-official cover in overseas assignments, meaning she claimed no affiliation to any government agency...
"'Wilson's overseas assignments had ended by the time he married Plame, so the two were never posted abroad together...
"'In Washington, Plame was assigned to the CIA's Non-Proliferation Center, an organization of analysts, technical experts and former field operatives who work on detecting and, if possible, preventing foreign proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.'"[End quote]
"If this story is correct, Plame is now an analyst and not an operative, and has not been posted abroad since the time she married her husband. Since she has 3 year-old children according to the press, this puts her last foreign posting at at least 4 years ago, or a little less, and maybe more. I have not been able to determine exactly when the two were married.
"You may have something here about the 5-year statute of limitations on the "covert agent" definition.
"The part of the statute that includes a covert agent's foreign agents as being within the ambit of a "covert agent" would seem to be a weak read to support any conviction. Since no actual name of any such foreign person was disclosed, it would be very hard to prove the leaker had the requisite intent to out such an (unnamed) foreign person. Specific intent seems to be an essential element of the crime. Do you agree?

So "WHO" sent Mr. Wilson to Africa?Senetor Roberts was on FNC the other day asking this very question. He wants to know why the CIA sent Wilson to Niger. He also said if Wilson was the best the CIA could send then we have a lot of problems.
posted on 10/12/2003 7:49:07 PM PDT
What happened to the lying liberals drum beat, not much focus on that oh so important "special counsel" today.
Senator Roberts sure knows how to find out WHO sent Mr. Wilson, and maybe he already knows.
We may not ever find out WHO it was.
To: Just mythoughts
If Hillary jumps into the race it might be interesting to find out WHO about next September.

Look everybody, the point isn't who outed whom even if the "whom" was already outed. What you all seem to fail to realize is the extent to which the politcs in this country is totally messed up.
Even IF she was already revealed to have been a NOC YEARS ago, the fact that it is now common knowledge to the public ensures that even the most incompetant "intelligence" bodies now know. So she is now a target, and as a result she and all of the operational information in her head are not at risk from not only government intel bodies, but anyone with the guts to try and kidnap her.
So my question is, even if this has been done hundreds of times in the past, what were the senior Administration people thinking of in the first place? Also, have we sunk that low as to endanger people over stupid partisanism? I MEAN REALLY...
This is why our intelligence agencies suck.
Has anybody come up with a picture of Mrs. Wilson yet?
