Me, too, Steve. He calls her the mother --of Jesus --and a devout believer. We, Evangelicals, fail to appreciate her as we should.

I agree. The Lutheran church has traditionally had a strong attachment to Mary as the Mother of our Lord, and as a perfect example of obedience. After Vatican I, the tend has been to minimize Mary. Still, many "old school" LCMS churches still celebrate a few feasts for Mary.
