On the off chance you are not kidding:

Bishop Robinson's first name is "Gene" ("Eugene?"). It's us crazy right-wingers who call him "Vicky." I think the source of that is his former title, "Vicar."

What ever gave you the idea that Anglicans were CALVINIST?

Perhaps the Thirty Nine Articles.

XVII. Of Predestination and Election

Predestination to Life is the everlasting purpose of God, whereby (before the foundations of the world were laid) he hath constantly decreed by his counsel secret to us, to deliver from curse and damnation those whom he hath chosen in Christ out of mankind, and to bring them by Christ to everlasting salvation, as vessels made to honour. Wherefore, they which be endued with so excellent a benefit of God, be called according to God's purpose by his Spirit working in due season: they through Grace obey the calling: they be justified freely: they be made sons of God by adoption: they be made like the image of his only- begotten Son Jesus Christ: they walk religiously in good works, and at length, by God's mercy, they attain to everlasting felicity.

As the godly consideration of Predestination, and our Election in Christ, is full of sweet, pleasant, and unspeakable comfort to godly persons, and such as feel in themselves the working of the Spirit of Christ, mortifying the works of the flesh, and their earthly members, and drawing up their mind to high and heavenly things, as well because it doth greatly establish and confirm their faith of eternal Salvation to be enjoyed through Christ, as because it doth fervently kindle their love towards God: So, for curious and carnal persons, lacking the Spirit of Christ, to have continually before their eyes the sentence of God's Predestination, is a most dangerous downfall, whereby the Devil doth thrust them either into desperation, or into wrethchlessness of most unclean living, no less perilous than desperation.

Furthermore, we must receive God's promises in such wise, as they be generally set forth to us in Holy Scripture: and, in our doings, that Will of God is to be followed, which we have expressly declared unto us in the word of God.

no, I'm sorry, but Vicki Gene really is Robinson's real name. That's not a joke - it's how he was baptised...

ANGLICAN BELIEF AND PRACTICE

A Joint Affirmation of the Reformed Episcopal Church and the Anglican Province of America October 4, 2001. I. Introduction

Both the Reformed Episcopal Church and the Anglican Province of America recognize the Thirty-nine Articles of Religion as one of their formularies.

XVII. Of Predestination and Election. (from my 1662 Anglican prayerbook of which there is very little a Calvinist would complain)

Wherefore, they which be endued with so excellent a benefit of God, be called according to God's purpose by his Spirit working in due season: they through Grace obey the calling: they be justified freely: they be made sons of God by adoption: they be made like the image of his only-begotten Son Jesus Christ: they walk religiously in good works, and at length, by God's mercy, they attain to everlasting felicity.

As the godly consideration of Predestination, and our Election in Christ, is full of sweet, pleasant, and unspeakable comfort to godly persons, and such as feel in themselves the working of the Spirit of Christ, mortifying the works of the flesh, and their earthly members, and drawing up their mind to high and heavenly things, as well because it doth greatly establish and confirm their faith of eternal Salvation to be enjoyed through Christ, as because it doth fervently kindle their love towards God: So, for curious and carnal persons, lacking the Spirit of Christ, to have continually before their eyes the sentence of God's Predestination, is a most dangerous downfall, whereby the Devil doth thrust them either into desperation, or into wretchlessness of most unclean living, no less perilous than desperation. Furthermore, we must receive God's promises in such wise, as they be generally set forth to us in Holy Scripture: and, in our doings, that Will of God is to be followed, which we have expressly declared unto us in the Word of God.

Pssst! Dangus, I said "Calvinistic" not Calvinist.

So you did... And I did miss it. But if we're both reading that passage the same way, I'm shocked you consider it consistent with the Calvinism you've told me about.

And to think that Dean says in an interview that he left this church when they would not sell/donate land for a bike path!?

It seems pretty clear to me that you don't understand Calvinism. Why do you think that definition of Predestination is not consistent with Calvinism?

I didn't say Predestination is not consistent with Calvinism. I meant to say the Anglican Church's concept of predestination seems different from the understanding of predestination I've received from Calvinists, such as yourself.

I posted "their" definition from my copy of the 1662 Anglican Prayerbook. You are free to show me how it is different from Calvinism. But, I must point out that I was not so much talking about the Anglicans as I was my Episcopalian ancestors specifically. I was careful to use the word Episcopal.
