Two progressivist shirt-and-time priests at Vatican II. Father Joseph Ratzinger (R) was a co-worker with Father Karl Rahner (L) at the Council

My copy of the SSPX book "Pope John Paul II's Theological Journey to Assisi, Vol. I" shows its author, a purportedly traditional minded priest, in this same coat and tie outfit.

While it certainly isn't my style, it seems that sympathizers of Msgr. Lefebvre are among those who have adopted it, else the picture on that book is quite inexplicable.

Pot and Kettle LotI.

Ratzinger and Rahner were theological soulmates, at Vatican II.

Was the author an SSPX priest at the time?

The SSPX seminarians even play soccer in their cassocks.

What's your point? More false accusations?

Lots of dry cleaning.

That's positively weird. They're not getting their Vitamin D.

I do know one thing about Rahner's personal spirituality.

While waiting to speak at theological symposia, he was frequently observed saying the rosary on the dais.

We've all done things that, in retrospect, we can't believe we were foolish enough to do.

Ratzinger never disavowed his friendship with Rahner, though they did have some theological disagreements.

Cardinal Wojtyla in shorts and a fishnet T-shirt enjoying the company of some friends at a picnic on the hillsides of Krakow circa 1975.

Thanks, LotI. Consider it bookmarked.

Rahner only appeals to the old folks anyway. The younger Catholics that I know want more traditional authentic Roman Catholicism.

Photoshop. Or some guy who looks like Wojtyla.

He's not wearing an episcopal ring, something I doubt a Cardinal would leave behind, at any time.

You're pathetic, Irish.

Yes, that would seem to be what the article is doing. Or are you saying that I caused a false picture to be published on the back of a book printed by the Angelus Press?

Your sources do tend toward the National Enquirer, LOI.

This picture is not of Cardinal Wojtyla, and your propagating of it is sleazy.

But, not out of character, sad to say.

No, I'm accusing you of slander. Was the author an SSPX priest or was he not?

Yes or No.

Yes, it is.

I can die happy now. I have finally poked a nerve beneath your thick skin.

No it's not. No episcopal ring.

It's phony, and you know it's phony.

No nerve poked, Irish, as this is obvious goombah bulls**t.

“She remained a practicing Roman Catholic to the end of her days, but campaigned for abortion and against celibacy, as well as against the power of the priesthood. In spite of that, she counted among her personal friends Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger ... She stood for the German Presidency in 1984 at the age of 73, as the Green Party’s candidate ... and campaigned in the West for the North Korean dictator Kim Il Sung.”

In "union" with Rome?

Beats the hell out of me. I don't have an official list of your priests. Why don't you answer your own question? Again, he's pictured on the back of a book widely promoted by the SSPX publishing houses, wearing a coat-and-tie set of clerics.

It is intersting that St. Jerome was likewise tempted but ran away from it. If he sometimes seems extreme on the subject of sexual please, it is because he personal saw the trap. Apparently, Rahner did not. That he consorted with a feminist does, in my eyes, make his theology suspect. I will add to that" obscure. Neither in German nor in English is he easy to read.

Just as the Fatima children's visions of the souls in Hell are.

Take a hike down the cafeteria line and pick what you want.

A Catholic can believe those, or not.

This photo, is phony.
