Or the "us" earlier Genesis.

But the real issue is that any attempt to bring other doctrines into Christianity that are not from scripture is not justifiable. Any system that attempts to do that is not to be trusted. Please leave the RCC. Thank You.

Let me rephrase that for clarification:

"I don't believe it's Scripturally-sound to elevate any human being (excluding Jesus Christ, who in addition to being a man is the third and equal member of the holy Trinity; God incarnate; savior of the Elect, ordained by God from before the foundation of the world) above the rest of humanity."

And yes, I do think it's possible that Jesus Christ, God incarnate, can and was born of a human woman. God's miracles know no bounds.

By that fact, we, like Mary and Elizabeth and Joseph and Augustine and Mother Teresa and you and me, are fortunate indeed.

Nope, not going to happen. As I age (I'm only 24), I'm becoming more traditional.

Memo to self: Well, at least this post didn't end up with Catholics going at each other hammer and tongs! In my short time at the FR religion forum, that must be a first!

Read some Calvin and Augustine and R.C. Sproul and John Owen. Even if it doesn't persuade you, you'll understand where the Reformed are coming from.

IMO, RCs are well-versed in their own religion, but sadly unfamiliar with Protestantism.

As an example, I watched "Kill Bill-2" last night. In the wedding scene, we have a minister and his wife presiding over the ceremony. However, on the wall is a large crucifix.

Now, any Protestant knows that's just not going to happen in ANY Baptist or Pentecostal church, which this obviously was.

Just as obviously, Tarantino is/was a Roman Catholic and assumes EVERY Christian church has a crucifix on the wall.

FYI, the empty cross is preferred in Protestant churches because it signifies Christ's Resurrection. His work has been accomplished. Our salvation is set. It truly is "finished." The empty cross is the saving cross. Christ's sacrifice was real; He is risen. Thank you, God.

I'm afraid I know it too well. And Augustine, whom you name, believed in the Immaculate Conception.

Funny how Calvin, Luther and Zwingli were all devoted to the Blessed Mother only to have their followers chuck their teachings some four centuries later.

An empty cross doesn't signify anything however, an empty tomb certainly does.

This is delightful. You see all the varieties of Catholics on FreeRepublic dearly love Our Blessed Mother Mary. So we have no reason to fight but instead to rejoice and to praise the Most Holy Trinity for her.

Because we are near the Solemnity of the Assumption, the demon sends out his attack forces as we lead up to the most holy day, but it is all sound and fury signifying nothing.

So we say a Hail Mary in reparation for the blasphemiesand rejoice that Catholics on FreeRepublic are united in loving the Mother whom Jesus loves perfectly, the Mother he gave to us all at Calvary.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee! Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus! Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

The rain is pouring, the thunder is rolling, the wind is starting to pick up and the sky out over the Atlantic side is putting on a nifty light-show.

OP will be incommunicado a few days until Charley blows through the Keys.

Best, OP

Because sin that is passed down generationally is passed from the male, not the female. Another reason why cloning is probably linked to a desire to for antichristian works.

Mary was conceived by her father and mother, both human, both with an old sin nature.

Jesus Christ was born free of sin, due to the Imaculate Conception.

Another interesting perspective regarding Mary. She may have actually have begun to believe she was something extraordinary, but consider how when Christ was on the Cross, he referred for her to behold her son. If in reference to the body and flesh and things not immortal, and if this was what Mary had become preoccupied with, namely things not immaterial, but things of the world,...then the command to behold her son would have given her a jolt to realize that even the things she was preoccupied with in the world, were destroyed.

What she should have sought instead were those things immaterial and incorruptible. I wonder if that is what she sought to see in her son on the Cross or if the command was another lesson being taught.
