Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray and do thou o Prince of the Heavenly Hosts, by the Power of God, cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Prayer of St. Michael the Archangel, composed by Pope Leo XIII.

O God, Who, from among other Angels, didst chose the Archangel Gabriel to announce the mystery of Thine Incarnation, mercifully grant that we, who celebrate his earthly feast, may experience his Heavenly protection.

Prayer in honor of Saint Gabriel taken from My Daily Prayer collection of prayers.

O God, Who didst give the Blessed Archangel Raphael to Thy servant Tobias, to be a companion on his way, grant that we, Thy servants, may ever be sheltered by his guardianship and strengthened by his aid.

Prayer in honor of Saint Raphael taken from My Daily Prayer collection of prayers.

When did angels become "saints"? Do you pray to angels as you do to saints?

It's from the Latin for "Holy Angel."

Saint Raphael, Angel of Happy Meetings

O Raphael, lead us towards those we are waiting for, those who are waiting for us! Raphael, Angel of Happy Meetings, lead us by the hand towards those we are looking for! May all our movements, all their movements, be guided by your Light and transfigured by your Joy.

Angel Guide of Tobias, lay the request we now address to you at the feet of Him on whose unveiled Face you are privileged to gaze. Lonely and tired, crushed by the separations and sorrows of earth, we feel the need of calling to you and of pleading for the protection of your wings, so that we may not be as strangers in the Province of Joy, all ignorant of the concerns of our country.

Remember the weak, you who are strong--you whose home lies beyond the region of thunder, in a land that is always peaceful, always serene, and bright with the resplendent glory of God. Amen.

When did angels become "saints"?

The word "saint" means "holy one". It comes from the Latin "sanctus" (holy, as an adjective, or "holy one" as a noun). The archangels are certainly holy ones, because they are in the presence of God at his heavenly throne, as Scripture teaches.

Do you pray to angels as you do to saints?

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast in hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Try it sometime when you're under spiritual attack. The devil hates it.

Do you ask people to pray for you? That is intercessory prayer. Why can't angels pray for you?

Sorry, I believe God will let nothing happen to me that he has not ordained. And everything that He has ordained, though I may not understand, works for my good and benefit. Like Job, the devil cannot attack believers unless God foreordains it. God is our shepperd and He will take care of His sheep.

So... you don't believe that God is moved by your communication, pleadings, and prayer to Him? If you believe that He will not let anything happen to you that is not 'ordained', then what prevents God from changing what He ordains based on a man's actions?

Why should God be moved by my pleading and prayers to Him? He’s the one in control. I’m the one who needs to be conformed to His image. God sends his angels without us praying for them. They are ministering spirits and He knows when we need them.

I’m neither a determinist nor a fatalist. I do believe God is moved by prayers that comfort, assists, and helps us and others in our growth (e.g. be bolder in my testimony, be more charitable, etc.). Those who prayed for Peter’s release from prison showed God’s intervening work in action. But our prayers for the most part should be that God’s kingdom come and God’s will be done. Not whether we’ll have “traveling mercy” for our European vacation or even that God fix my sewer system because “I’m stressed”.

Man’s actions however cannot change what God has ordained no matter how hard man tries.

Do you ask your friend to pray for you?

Of course!

There is a familiar Guardian Angel prayer that most Catholics know by heart.

I remember praying it a lot as a child. Not so often now. Unless I am driving in heavy traffic. But I am more like to just pray "Jesus, help me." now.

**Man’s actions however cannot change what God has ordained no matter how hard man tries.**

Say what?

Moses in answering God's call gave many, many, many reasons that he should not be the messenger to the Israelites as well as to Pharoah. (Man's actions)

But finally the Bible tells us that God became angry with him.

God had been patient and reassuring telling Moses that He would be with him, that Aaron would be the spokesman, that he could use his staff, hand and water as signs -- yet when the man's actions -- Moses' final excuse -- God became angry.

Just doesn't ring true with your statement above. (Exodus 1-6)

WATCH, DEAR LORD, WITH THOSE WHO WAKE, OR WATCH, OR WEEP,
AND GIVE YOUR ANGELS CHARGE OVER THOSE WHO SLEEP.
KEEP THE SICK, REST THE WEARY, BLESS THE DYING,
SOOTHE THE SUFFERING, PITY THE AFFLICTED, SHIELD THE JOYOUS,
AND ALL FOR YOUR LOVE'S SAKE.

Apologies for the all caps; that was the format of the cut and paste.
