NO one is to know the return of Jesus but we are to be ready and be able to look at the world and see some of prophecy un-fold.

What prophecies?

Jesus told His disciples, "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."

How can prophecies be unfolding when Jesus said we would not know the time of His return?

Topcat54,
The bride of Chrit is perfect in His eyes, not because of some "inner healing", but only because of what He has done for us. We are already righteous. There is nothing more beautiful than that.
I agree... I believe that what is being 'cleaned' is the country itself... it is being cleansed of enemy strongholds.

These modern day prophets should be avoided like the plague.
However, I think you are wrong to make a statement like this.
1. Prophecy should not be confused with a word of knowledge or other manifestations of the Holy Spirit.
2. Prophecy is intended for the unbeliever, while revelations like this are intended for the Body of Christ.
3. You should know better than to speak against the Body of Christ... even if your spirit does not witness to the authenticity of what has been said, it is not for you to make statements like this.
4. While my theology on certain doctrins may not agree with other's, my spirit DOES witness to the authenticity of many of these visions/words of knowledge/etc. I have YET to hear any specific prophecy issued other than what is in the Bible.

I didn't realize the size of your tunnel vision was the size of a drinking straw.

CHRIST ALSO EXHORTED US, CHIDED US TO BE AWARE OF THE SEASON WHEN HE WOULD RETURN, though we wouldn't know the day or hour.

There's TONS OF, LAYERS OF, SUB GROUPS OF prophetic issues, facts, dynamics, topics etc. between A to Z. Interesting that you get fixated on a microscopic PART of say D and then pretend that's the whole vastly arrayed subject area.

Interesting.

Have you ever applied to the DNC to serve as their mascot?

He did send Jesus for that, But also the End Times prophecies as well.

You mean the "end time prophecies" according to the Left Behind novels? Most of what passes for "end times prophecies" today is speculative fabrication based on faulty interpretation of the Bible and "visions" from some "end times apostles".

I could take that as a compliment. Now, if you had said the size of my tunnel vision was thd size of thd Grand Canyon, then I might be insulted. :-)

I don't exepct them to be perfect. I've never found anyone perfect but Christ.

My issue with them is this - if they're going to claim the gift of prophecy, I expect their prophecies to be perfect, per Deuteronomy 13 and 18. If any prophecies fail to come to pass (Deut 18), and/or if Sandford preaches a non-Biblical God (Deut 13), John Sandford forfeits all claims to that gift.

It appears that you have very limited ability to read the plain language of Christ's words in the New Testament.

Or else your logic skills have taken a lengthy and far flung break.

Why would I think you'd profit in the least from my humble words! LOL.

I agree... I believe that what is being 'cleaned' is the country itself... it is being cleansed of enemy strongholds.

Why is this surprising? Jesus has been on His throne for 2000 years subduing His enemies. He is the one given "all authority over heaven and earth".

Knowing the Scriptures one should expect the gospel to advance and have a positive impact on the world. It's just a matter of time.

1. Prophecy should not be confused with a word of knowledge or other manifestations of the Holy Spirit.

One of the problems with the "word of knowledge" concept is that there is very little in the Bible about the gift (only mentioned in 1 Cor. 12:8) and folks today have managed to turn it into a cottage industry. I suspect we have little information in the Bible because the gift, like tongues, etc, passed away with the last of the apostles.

The way it's often used by modern prophets to avoid the sticky issue of 1) having their words regarded as the very Word of God (like real prophets in the Bible), ans 2) giving them an out in case their "word of knowledge" fails them.

2. Prophecy is intended for the unbeliever, while revelations like this are intended for the Body of Christ.

False. Prophecy was given as a gift to the Church, for the benefit of the Church (1 Cor. 14:4). Today we call all this apostolic information "the Bible".

3. You should know better than to speak against the Body of Christ ...

The body of Christ, the Church, is a big thing. But there are frauds in the Church. Jesus, Peter, and Paul all warned against them (cf. Acts 20). They ought to be exposed for what they are. The bad hair guys on TBN are not infallible popes. We ought not treat them as such.

4. While my theology on certain doctrins may not agree with other's, my spirit DOES witness to the authenticity of many of these visions/words of knowledge/etc.

Well, mine doesn't. Does that make you more spiritual than me, or me more spiritual than you?

Okay, you've officially lost me here. Are you saying someone other than Jesus caused Moses to pen Deut. 13 & 18? Or are you saying that Jesus changed the standards, and prophets don't need to have a 1.000 batting average anymore?

I do not ignore the Bible. I do ignore lots of what some people say about the Bible, especially when it comes to their certain views on "end times prophecies".

Given how many people have been wrong in the past with their predictions of "fulfillment" it is good to be skeptical (while sticking to the Bible).

The Church's job is to call people to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, to baptize and disciple the nations.

It is not our job to speculate about who may or may not be around after the "secret rapture" that may or may not come "real soon now" while chasing after stories of phantom red heifers, Aaron's genes, and the nefarious EU. It sells books, but that's about it.

Wrong... their teachings should be. God has a firm grasp on dealing with the individual, and needs no help from us.

I don't know about that one. I would tend to believe that God would have his people live a life and exhibit Christlike behavior to others as if this day were your last. The end will come when the end will come...and God will then judge us. Something can be said of the wasted time and energy (not to mention pushing people away from the faith) that some Christians exhibit in pushing endtimes "doctrine" on some people...especially when that "doctrine" was "interpreted" by John Darby in the 1800's to his fame and profit. I'm pretty weary of any so-called minister of the faith (i.e. LaHaye, Vam Impe ministries, Benny Hinn, Hagee ministries; to name a few) that use and twist the Word of God for profit. They may have had good intentions, but I believe many have been sucked into these kind of distractions and personal interpretations of scripture that turn out to be detrimental to ones walk with God.

Wrong... their teachings should be. God has a firm grasp on dealing with the individual, and needs no help from us.

"For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them." (Acts 20:29,30)

Seems you must deal with both the false teachings and the false teachers.

You wrote, While my theology on certain doctrins may not agree with other's, my spirit DOES witness to the authenticity of many of these visions/words of knowledge/etc.

Now you say:

This question only illustrates your error.

If you don't consider yourself very spiritual, how can your spirit "witness to the authenticity" of this alleged visions, etc?

It's persistently exasperating and infuriating.

I don't know that I demand perfection. I may earnestly endeavor to relate hereon as I'd prefer to be related to AS MUCH AS LIES WITHIN me in KJV terms.

I even prefer to relate in loving tolerance and avoid insult etc.

ROUTINELY the other side gets so obnoxiously, smugly, self-righteously stubborn and relentlessly destructive to the discussion, I 'lose it' vis a vis my preferences and values. I'm not proud of that and am sorry and repentant for that. But I'm not yet purified through sufficient refiner's fires that it's a 00.000000000000000% problem.

I think it's all the more exasperating because there appears to be no solution. Ignoring them doesn't work. They are relentless regardless of how much one ignores them and regardless of how long one ignores them. They are persistently scanning for any opportunity to come back to the thread and be maximally destructive so that no one with an opposing view has sufficient courage or bother to deal with them.

They probably smugly notch their Bibles for such 'successes' for 'the faith.' Gag me with a very big spoon.

I'm sick of it--fed up with it. Furious about it. May they reap many ocean tankers full of what they have dished out.
May all the threads they inintiate bite the dust early with only very uncomfortable mirrors their only consolation.

Sigh.

You were that started this discussion by offering such insights as:

It is increasingly obvious that the time of our Lord's coming is drawing near.

People who make such statements ought to breakout the asbestos underwear. It's only "increasingly obvious" to folks who hold to a certain interpretive approach to the scripture, namely futurist dispensationalism.

They've been crying wolf for decades now, bringing ridicule on the name of our Lord with their wild speculation about everything from barcode scanners and the mark of the beast to Cobra helicopters as the locusts of Revelation.

Jesus will return when He is good and ready. He promised to do so almost 2000 years ago.

It's time Christians in the 21st century stopped being so egocentric, believing every little prophetic jot and tittle points to 2004, and started doing what Christ called us to do, namely discipling the nation.

Face it, He's not going to telegraph the timing to you or me or the folks at TBN.
