Your Comments, from what I know, this was not surprising, but not good. He isn't very Orthodox, and that tends to be the CW about him, any understanding about this.

Okay, now that I have vented.... this is just basic. It would be normal for Skylstad to become the president of the USCCB -- the status quo would dictate that.
There is marginally good news here in that Skylstad was elected by only 52%.

I am not pleased, George was a distant second too. At least this means George will one day rise to being the Preident of the USCCB, he is pretty Orthodox. Who knows, maybe he'll be able to overshadow Skylstad. Only Levada and Skylstad struck me as "liberal" candidates for the office. Dolan, Rigali, Wuerl, Chaput were other nominees.

He is against witholding Communion to pro-deathers.
Some bishops have stated that they will deny Eucharist to Catholic politicians who have supported abortion legislation. Eucharist is Gods gift to us, Gods presence among us. It is a most precious part of our Catholic heritage. I strongly oppose using Eucharist as a weapon.

Uh, bishop read your Bible!

No kidding, I think George would have been a fantastic President. He is diplomatic, so I guess that is necessary for that position, but he is Orthodox and will bash heads when he has to.
