A Connecticut judge is asking New York authorities to enforce a subpoena for Edward Cardinal Egan to testify in a sexual-abuse case. Judge Chase Rogers issued the request last week in response to a motion from a lawyer whose client claims he was molested in the early 1990s by a priest at St. Teresa Church in Trumbull.

Actually, there's more than meets the eye with the New York Archdiocese saying it has no awareness of the subpoena. Especially when a Connecticut judge had to invoke an extraordinary request for the cooperation of New York authorities to force a response from Egan about his knowledge of John Castaldo before he approved Castaldo's transfer to St. Mark's.
Stonewalling will merely stall the administration of justice, unless another vacancy within the Vatican finds Egan called to fill it, as in the case of the move by that prince of evasion, Cardinal Law, to Rome.
Speaking of justice - or more precisely - injustice, a week-end of jail time for "....attempted dissemination of indecent material to a minor...." w/five years of (unsupervised?) probation was a deal made in hell. Connecticut should hold its head in shame for this judicial abuse of authority.
ping to self for later
