Isaiah 40:31
The Bible ^

Posted on 01/21/2005 12:53:45 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

In case anybody wanted to know, the Bible was open to Isaiah 40:31 when President Bush was sworn in.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (KJV)

Must be a large-type bible! Heck, no wonder it could only fit one verse per page!

Very appropriate passage of Scripture.

Another good one could have been Psalm 37:1-4;

Psalms 37:1 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong;

Psalms 37:2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.

Psalms 37:3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Interesting. Wouldn't Isaiah 40:17 be on the same page?

All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

Can you give us your source?

Presidents in the past have often made public what verses they opened the Bible to during the swearing in ceremony, so this story sounds reasonable. Although I don't disbelieve it, it would be good to confirm it in some way.

I see I've been answered while I was composing my question.

The whole of Isaiah 40 is filled with good stuff.

Yep. I should of put a source. Fox News reported it a little bit ago. And I found this link to the Washington Times:

"He gave me his list of tasks, as he always does," the chief of staff said. The commander in chief also told Mr. Card exactly what passage he would have the Bible open to when he took the oath of office: Isaiah 40:31 — "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

With the recent tensions over those russian missiles that Syria is buying it is certainly likely.

they shall mount up with wings as EAGLES

Notice the passage states Eagles, not Falcons. Isaiah was a great prophet.

My prophecy:

Eagles 27 Falcons 20

I noticed that it was open , and figured it was open to a most meaninful passage to our dear President. He couldn't have picked a more appropriate passage. God Bless Him.

I was wondering about this. Thanks for posting. I've heard a few sermons regarding this Scripture, and it's a good one to hold on to.

I have the following on my FR homepage.

"As for those of you who are left, I will make their hearts so fearful in the lands of their enemies that the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight. They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall, even though no one is pursuing them." Leviticus 26:36

It's an Army thing....
