I address this to real Catholic Freepers, and I am happy to greet friendly Anglicans and Orthodox Freepers.
Terri Schindler's murder because of the decree of the State and the inaction of the State means our sister in Christ will likely die a martyr because of the Culture of Death.
If and when this premeditated murder is completed, I would like us all to rally faithful Catholics everywhere to call upon the Church at every level to acclaim Terri as
If in time, Holy Mother Church will remember the ancient custom and acclaim the martyred woman a Saint by virtue of her martyrdom -- all the better.
Let not the defiled name of "Schiavo" live on in this, but let the most honored name of "Schindler" -- honoured because of another Schindler's bravery in the Second World War -- let her birth name "Schindler" be remembered for ever among us.

St. Maximilian Kolbe, pray for us!
Prayer for Those in Their Last Agony
Go forth, O Christian soul, out of this world, in the name of God the Father almighty, Who created thee; in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, Who suffered for thee; in the name of the Holy Ghost, Who sanctified thee; in the name of the holy and glorious Mary, Virgin and Mother of God; in the name of the Angels, Archangels, Thrones, and Dominations; Cherubim and Seraphim; in the name of Patriarchs and Prophets, of the holy Apostles and Evangelists, of the holy Martyrs, Confessors, Monks, and Hermits, of the holy Virgins, and of all the Saints of God; may thy place be this day in peace, and thine abode in holy Sion. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
O merciful and gracious God, O God, Who according to the multitude of Thy mercies blottest out the sins of such as repent, and graciously remittest the guilt of their past offenses, mercifully regard this Thy handmaid, Theresa Schindler, and grant her a full discharge from all her sins, who with a contrite heart most earnestly begs it of Thee. Renew, O merciful Father, whatever has been vitiated in her by human fraility, or by the frauds and deceits of the enemy; and associate her as a member of redemption to the unity of the body of the Church. Have compassion, O Lord on her sighs, have compassion on her tears; and admit her, who has no hope but in Thy mercy, to the sacrament of Thy reconciliation. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen....
St. Joseph, patron of the dying, and patron of a holy death, pray for us!
Excellent thing you are doing. God bless.
Catholic ping, and BTTT!
Please read.
St. Anthony of Padua, pray for us!
The opposition is to the Culture of Death and its black-flowering during the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. But the emphasis must be on the victory of the Christ the Lord and King of the Universe and his Gospel of Life.
Apologies for my poor typing and grammar in the last post. Trying to do this and hold a child at the same time. *smile*
I do not think that any of us Catholics will forget Theresa Marie Schindler Schiavo, ever.
She is a suffering soul who has taught us a great lesson and no suffering is meaningless... she has forced us to confront just how much we really do love our brothers and sisters. The line has been drawn and it transcends politics and even religion - it goes to what is written in your heart - some of us know why it is written in our hearts and some of us don't, but we know with certainty that no human being should be starved and dehydrated in order to cause their death.
I didn't see any. Then again, it is almost 2 am where I am (I should have been in bed a LOOONG time ago). Oh well...
Ping to the West Coast...
An outstanding idea. Our priest talked about this on Good Friday too.
If it is the will of the Trinity it will come to pass.
May the truth of her murder be known, and the wrongdoers punished for their collusion and barbarism done in our name.
Pope Saint Gregory VII:
"There are in the world thousands of men who risk death every day at the summons of their lords. Yet, when the interests of the King of Heaven, our Redeemer, are at stake, how many Christians shrink, not from death only, but even from the hatred of other men. And the few ? thanks be to God for those few ? who dare to resist the wicked openly, and to face death, are not only unsupported by their brethren, but are accused by them of imprudence, and indiscretion, and are treated as fools...."
May God have mercy on us all.
She has passed, shortly before 10 am EST. May God have mercy on her soul.
Terri is not a martyr, and cannot be.Martyrs die for the defense of the Catholic Fatih and knowingly, they will not offend God or break His commandments no matter how cruel the torments they face. Come come now ,don't go overboard.

Prayer for the Faithful Departed
O gentlest Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in Purgatory, have mercy on the soul of Thy servant, Terri. Be not severe in Thy judgment, but let some drops of Thy Precious Blood fall upon our beloved departed, and do Thou, O merciful Savior, send Thy angels to conduct the soul of Thy servant to a place of refreshment and peace. Amen.

Thank you for that link.
Please get a new screen name so you don't bring dishonor on Our Lady when you are wrong, misguided, mistaken, or you encounter something you simply don't understand. The chances of that happening are in the same ball park with you being a defender of the faith.
And a hello to NYer.
So where are you? I've been in Florida.
I had my wife's blessing, even if I got arrested.
I'm feeling very bad that I didn't just make the trip alone. I'm sorry.
Don't feel bad. I kept thinking I was going to run into you. I kept turning around, and I think, dear St. Johann, you were there in a spiritual way you cannot possibly imagine. Or maybe you can. Take good comfort in that. By our praying where we are the Lord unites us in the Communion of Saints in a wondrous way. We may feel alone, but we are not alone. We may feel we didn't do enough, but our prayers move mountains we may only learn about we the Lord draws us out of this world.
"when the Lord draw us..."
No matter what you think of the merits, would you ping your list...
Time to sign off and out and back to children and Catholic action.
There is always room for 'the devil's advocate' in such questions, is there not? So there is room for your nay-saying.
Thanks, Herself.
Portuguese Cardinal Jose Saraiva Martins, head of the Vatican's office for sainthood, told reporters that "an attack against life is an attack against God, who is the author of life."
Arthur McGowan has suggested otherwise, reminding us that the Holy Innocents are regarded as Martyrs.
INTO thy hands, O merciful Saviour, we commend the soul of thy servant, now departed from the body. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech thee, a sheep of thine own fold, a lamb of thine own flock, a sinner of thine own redeeming. Receive him into the arms of thy mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.
Well said. Let's not diminish the sacrifice of all of those true martyrs who suffered so and ultimately gave their lives for the Faith. While Terri's murder is a very grievous offense against God, she is nor more a martyr than all of the innocent babies who are murdered in the womb.
Requiescat in pace, Terri.
At Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church (Anglican Usage) this prayer is frequently said in connection with burials and requiems, and at other times, and is one of my all time favorites. It is the concluding collect for Good Friday from the 1979 BCP and the Book of Divine Worship (Hatchett says the 1979 BCP revisers found this in an old RC primer, or book of hours):
"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, we pray you to set your passion, cross, and death between your judgment and
our souls, now and in the hour of our death. Give mercy and
grace to the living; pardon and rest to the dead; to your holy Church peace and concord; and to us sinners everlasting life and glory; for with the Father and the Holy Spirit you live and reign, one God, now and for ever. Amen."
I'm with you on this. I note that you dropped Schiavo. Thanks. Please note my sig. Maybe I'll change it to Martyr of the Gospel of Life but then it will get too long.
Could you please include me on your list?
"O God of all spirits and flesh, Who has trodden down death, destroying the power of the devil, bestowing life on Your world, to the soul of Your servant Teresa departed this life, do You Yourself, O Lord, give rest in a place of light, in a place of green pasture, in a place of refreshment, from where pain and sorrow and mourning are fled away. Every sin by her committed in thought, word, or deed, do You as our good and loving God forgive, seeing that there is no man that shall live and sin not, for You alone are without sin: Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your law is truth."
Orthodox Funeral Service
They too are martyrs. Read Aidan Nichols, OP, Christendom Awake for a primer in the chapter "Rescuing the Holy Innocents."
No thanks on the luck part. Don't believe in it, and I'm Irish. And, Dominick, she did not suffer from illness. She was disabled.
