King Vanity has been a wild man with joy all day.
I am glad he is finally getting some rest.
He does not take food by mouth but had me make him a root beer float to taste as part as his celebrating the good news.
Good thing it was shower day as he really worked up a sweat with the Cerebral Palsy flailing to the max due to his joy over the news that the new Holy Father is NOT going to bend one bit.

Anyone happen to know why he is celebrating his first mass in the Sistine instead of St Peter's? Just to cut down on the number of people? Or to allow more people more time to visit John Paul II's vault?

Yes, on abc there was an interesting conversation between Kopel and a priest.
Kopel stated that some Catholics (who must be humanists on the side) would have problems with his conservatism and feels he closes down lots of questions people would like to discuss regarding the church.
The priest answered back, "Questions can be good, but this Pope is a expert in these areas and the Church has contemplated over decades many of these questions already that you mention. There is no need to keep questions out there forever just to have them out there. Sometimes the answer is NO, you can't do that."

Onyx and I already love him -- the MSM's demonizing began immediately, but the more you read about him, and see the kindness in his eyes, his shy demeanor, intellect, faithful devotion .. what you see is a good and true man of faith, who, please God, will have a strong, healthy and fruitful reign.
It doesn't matter what Chrissy, Cokie, E.J., Catholic bashers, gay rights or female priest naggers or any other commentator or politician says to slam this man on his first day and coming days and years. This man was chosen for the world by God and the Holy Spirit .. and it is a right and holy choice.
In spite of requesting retirement 3 times .. all 3 refused by our Dear Great Pope John Paul II.. who said he was needed (I thank God for that gift), he said finally that when he saw what the Pope was enduring to live out his service, he couldn't bring himself to retire to write his theological books in Germany.
God Bless the College of Cardinals for their discernment and swift and righteous choice.
God Bless Pope Benedict XVI-- long may he reign in vibrant good health to keep this ship on her true course.

You can really see that he is a kind and shy man. You see it in his eyes. This mantle will probably be an intimidating and heavy personal challenge for him, but I believe his submission to God's will, his trust and faith shine through .. and that he will be an instrument of God and for good. May our Dear Lord and the Blessed Mother of God protect him from evil, as they did for Holy Pope John II.

He's going to be the right Pope for these times.
We need a firm hand in affirming traditional historic articles of faith, sacraments and so forth.
I already love this Pope by the enemies he seems to have.
As a German, I do hope he turns around the antisemitism of Germany and also goes to Israel to repeat what JP2 did in reaching out to Israel/Jews.
IMO, they are like the grandparents of our religion anyway. They should not be estranged from Catholics and all of us should back Israel.

This Mass normally would be private .. his real public First Mass is this Sunday at St. Peter's. They're really opening up these events to world for the first time .. and I'm so glad and so impressed and loving it.
Think about how many millions of people are hearing the Word of God through this global event, how many are learning about God .. there will be wonderful consequences just from the televising of the rituals, the Liturgy and the beauty of the traditions of the Catholic Church to millions. Hearts are opening to God .. you can hear it and feel.

Some people who are weak Catholics or other folks all love to debate humanistic ideals with the Authority of the Church and can't understand that what God said he wanted from us isn't supposed to change because the people became pagans.
We are born to love God, and put God above all things. God was not supposed to revolved around all the wishes and whims of his creations, though He will be glad to help us get what we NEED.

I stopped attending mass when our parish went away from the Latin mass. That parish went downhill quickly, as did the local one where I live now. Hopefully sometime soon I can find an orthodox parish nearby... I hadn't really considered it much until these events; they've touched a part that was empty within me.
I visited the local church on the way home from work this evening.. I really have to find a more traditional one; it reminded me much of a Unitarian temple in how much of the Sacred was dressed over for modern consumption.

I stopped attending mass when our parish went away from the Latin massYou and many of us fell away confused and discouraged. The last mass I attended had a priest nearly in drag. It was very distressing. I am so inspired by the past few weeks I have been researching churches in my area and am determined to find one now. I have so much confidence in this new Pope. He is surely a divine choice.

Remember Moses was 80 years old when God chose him to be the deliverer of Israel. Now God sends us someone with his savy, knowledge and experience, the right man, for the right time. His meekness is only a sign of the awesome power of God the Father dwelling within him, which will empower him to accomplish his purpose. He will only inspire and embolden Christians of all sects worldwide to take the right stances and fight against evil.
