Born in NY, moved to NM at 9, back to NY at 21, and now live in Alexandria, VA.
I went to college at 14. This explains part of the reason I am odd and do not always relate well with women my age. I had a pretty dysfunctional childhood. This explains more of the reason I am odd.
Raised catholic, I was taught to worship God or risk hell. Fell away from the faith as a know it all college freshman and then I returned to the fold and gave my heart to Jesus in 94, this time worshipping out of gratitude and awe.
Im in my late twenties, outgoing and talkative and enjoy typical girl things [shopping, makeovers, sappy romance, etc.].
I'm passionate about my faith and politics. I'm an ex liberal democrat who encountered reality, studied it, and became a conservative republican as a result. [attn socialists:good motivations mean nothing when your methods to improve the world fail time and time again!]
Schooled in psychology [BA New Mexico State]; fascinated by law, philosophy, technology and neurobiology, I now work in my dream field [IT] as a Director of Information Systems on Capitol Hill. I came to the IT field by way of a violent attack from one of my mental health patients back in my clinical psych counselor days. At that moment I had a ephipany- find a career I love, am talented at, will allow me to help others make their lives better that DOES NOT require ativan or physical restraints. Hence my computer hobby became my career and I count myself blessed to wake up every morning excited about my work.
I'm not a big drinker [can't stand the taste of any alcohol except Malibu and Midori] and I dont smoke.
I love to plan. Plan budgets, plan menus, plan goals, plan vacations. I excel at planning! Following up on my plans I'm not so great at. Procrastination, lack of self-restraint and disciple are all issues I struggle with.
I have no kids but have a great dog [golden retriever]. This is not due to any child hate on my part. I love kids. I love spending time with kids and shopping for them and teaching them to read. I'm just not ready for my own kids yet, and my husband feels the same way. Someday this may change.
I love to cook. I collect cookbooks from different regions all over the world. My little rule for myself is that I or someone close to me [friend/family] must actually travel to the relevant region in order to purchase a cookbook highlighting that region's cuisine. I've only cheated once - buying an Atlanta cookbook in the Atlanta airport, never having been anywhere else in the state. I rationalized it was close enough.
Looking for other likeminded conservatives for fellowship. attend conservative events, etc. ------------------------------------------------------ From the day of our Founding, we have proclaimed that every man and woman on this earth has rights, and dignity, and matchless value, because they bear the image of the Maker of Heaven and earth. Across the generations we have proclaimed the imperative of self-government, because no one is fit to be a master, and no one deserves to be a slave. ~GWB
Check out the McLean Bible Church where route 7 and Lewinsville Rd. cross just west of Tysons. That's the D.C. area's ultimate church for people who describe themselves the way you do.
And, yes, McLean Bible has a few large single adult ministries, depending on age. Soul Purpose from 30's to late 40's and Frontline from 20's to early 30's.
Soul Purpose meets at 7:30pm on Tuesday evenings.

Frontline at the 5:30 service on Sunday evenings (it's a HUGE service).

*** The Catholic Church stands for timeless morality, while Protestantism has succumbed on many fronts.***
Come on. Let's not go there.
This is E-Harmony now? Who knew? I think a simple request for information would have sufficed. Sheesh. Personal columns under Religion, what's next?
May I recommend your nearest Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod church?
I'm not sure you meant that reply to me. Especially since I already belong to that church. Welcome to Free Republic:0}
thanks, mclean already is our church home. :)
thanks, mclean already is our church home. :) and also, i am not single. happily married 9 years.
i've nothing against the catholic church. my parents are still catholic and many of my friends are. and yes, of course i realize the abortificant properties of the pill- in fact i wrote an essay on it a few years back on my website [http://family.parjen.com]. I do not take the pill for this very reason.
argh. i am not single. i am happily married 9 years. christian fellowship is not the same as looking for an opposite sex partner. eesh. it is lookin for other female christian conservative friends, that's all.
Hey, that's my church too!
If you're looking for conservatives to hang out with, try one of the Townhall Meet-ups in the area. I think they're in Herndon, Vienna, and Sterling. If you're interested in getting involved in the local Republican party, freepmail me and I'll tell you how.
